India for the 1st time, had to swing over to see one of the world wonders. This has been an amazing trip so far! 🇮🇳

Finally finding time to reflect on the last nearly 7 months as Jaydon and I drive back from Colorado to Savannah. On February 5th we went to Asheville, NC with Shamrock + to work on a project for Hurricane Helene debris removal/assessment under the Army Corps. We had no idea what we would be getting into or what we would be doing beyond piloting drones. Our initial contract was 30 days long and ended up being extended for 186 nonstop days with zero days off. Through that time, I grew immensely as a pilot, trainer, and leader. With the excellent guidance of Jim Lee, I became the Operations Manager for the contract which included daily tasks of managing 10-12 drone teams, working with admin staff, training, learning LiDAR ops, making maps, planning daily operations, communicating with the Army Corps representatives of different debris sites, and piloting my own team. We had an excellent crew which ranged from 24-30 people with a wide variety of Asheville locals and crew members from across the Southeast. During this time, I was able to assist with the training of 8 brand new FAA Part 107 pilots and watch them gain growth personally and through their technical skill. Each started as a visual observer and obtained their license while in Asheville working for Shamrock. Amazingly, through bird attacks, software malfunctions, weather interference, and signal loss, the 8 new pilots I worked with had successful and most importantly safe days. I couldn’t have made it through this endeavor without Jaydon and the wonderful friendships made along the way. It was a mix of delightfully different individuals. My experience was made richer through group selfcare nights, movie nights, game nights, trying new restaurants, hiking to waterfalls, pottery painting, an extravagant easter egg hunt, and many rooftop sunsets. Even my little sister Natalie was able to work for 2 weeks as a visual observer during her summer break from teaching. I do not have enough thanks for Jim Lee. This opportunity has been life changing in so many ways. Thank you for trusting me to step into leadership.

The past few weeks preparing for my first set of reshoots ever has been hectic. I have a lot of people to thank, and who I owe gratitude to for making it happen! 💙 First of all, of course @laurajsimmons . None of this would have existed without her hard work and trust. Thank you for bringing me along on this journey. 💙 I’m always forever grateful to Jaydon for everything he does to uplift and support me during whatever crazy adventure I sign us up for. 💙 Obviously, a thank you to my parents for always supporting and tagging along for this journey. 💙 @angel_a_avalos , you were incredibly helpful the first time around, and even more so on the second time. Thankful for you times 100. 💙 @bodybythebear , you know what you did, and that was help keep us and the camera gear alive constantly. Your calming presence is unmatched. 💙 @purvanshigoyal28 , you kept us all going with your hard work and commitment to this project, so glad I got to work with you again. 💙 @mannyplaza for joining last minute and risking sea sickness. 💙 @alvaro.nunezmunoz - glad to work with you and connect! Good luck with joining the editing process. 💙 @jcwolfman , it was fun to get to act with you and actually see your face this time! lol 💙 @hood.does.hair for figuring out how to get this hair to match the shots taken over 7 months ago at such a last minute notice. Truly a miracle. 💙 @beettan_asheville helped me match my original tan work done by Michelle at @beettan_savannah . 💙 Lastly, to the Shamrock Asheville crew who have been supportive since I found out this was happening. 💙 Jim Lee - thanks for letting me off work and supporting my hectic multitasking. 💙 @maurice.leverion - literally could not have fit into my costume without your guidance and help after a comfy winter and two straight months of restaurants/hotel food. Your encouragement kept me going when I did not want to hit the gym. 💙 @alexislleggett , you put up with all my shenanigans the last few weeks, and provided solid advice when I needed it. Bliss is being able to combine your two greatest loves at the same time. Acting and being on a boat. I had the pleasure of being taught how to sail the wonderful 32ft Inchmore for @tackshortfilm by @lifeoholic_79 . Tacking alone was a challenge, but @laurajsimmons believed in me every step of the way. It was a joy to act opposite @billcurryphotographer and @jcwolfman . As Jaydon loves to say now “I got my masters!” Over the last year I pursued my degree while balancing film work and renovating our sweet ole home. It’s been a crazy year, but I am so proud! I could not have done it without Jaydon’s support, help, encouragement, and willingness to always be in mine and my cohorts films for assignments. He even became a firefighter extra for my final film. Love you Jaydon and I appreciate you so much!
