The ever persistent documentation of Philly bar bathroom graffiti, fifteen years apart. I’ll be at Ray’s tonight for @phillywriterscircle and it would be cool to hang out if you’re around.

Next Tuesday is another Philly Writers Circle reading, featuring a flurry of visiting authors and local talent. Would be sweet to see you there, at @rayshappybirthdaybar , and usher in the spring.

To celebrate the last day of National Poetry Month, we’re taking a look back in gratitude at the wonderful reading we co-hosted with @scrawlplace while in Baltimore. Very grateful to celebrate the incredible poets and prose authors who shared their gorgeous work in such a wonderful space. To close out this month: for many years, since @hootreview ’s inception, every April, we share a photo of Easy Mac, the press’s mascot, with Eliot’s opening line from Wasteland, “April is the cruellest month,” written in eyeliner on her side before getting a bath. This is the first time, in 17 years, that Easy Mac is not present to celebrate poetry month with us. Easy peacefully passed at the age of 17 in October, but her life remains a beautiful poem. She remains our national poetry month mascot 💚 Wishing you an impactful and powerful spring, filled with poetry.

“It’s not called the wheel, it’s called the carousel. It lets us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.”

Sure fun night at @laboroflovephl ’s event at @iceboxprojectspace . Rad wrestling, good vibes, great art. Shout out to my girl in the first row who yelled “if you don’t hold him, I will!” during the Matt Mako/Timothy Thatcher match.

Happy birthday to this brutalist beefcake: a longtime hater of social media, a steely faced observer of indie wrestling events taking place in the upstairs of a thrift store, guitar player of some repute including many surf rock songs, collector of wrestling figures he calls his “guys,” prince of cats, former beer brewer, former mustache have-r, and a darling dear. Happiest happy, Zack. Drop this dude a line to wish him the best because that’s exactly what he is: the best.

But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun who, depicted here, sort of looks like an illustration on the cover of a Moody Blues album. Arise, fair sun, to go and write In Search of the Lost Chord, so you may give it a word, and the word is… -William Shakespeare

How it started at Sarah Lawrence in September 2014, (even though we should have been friends growing up in San Diego together) vs how it’s going. Some eight hundred writing conferences and friendsgivings in between plus a few stops at Longwood Gardens and Kennett Square (currently). It doesn’t escape my attention that Artemis II dropped back down home in San Diego while these San Diegans were visiting. Because they bring the majesty of the sky with them wherever they travel. And the joy of their visit feels something like flying. Meet up with y’all at the saltless sea soon.
