5 years ago i never knew it would actually be possible to make a living playing music. but 4 years ago i played my first bar gig, and it’s been such a ride ever since. i’ve made countless mistakes and played 嘉宾 countless times, but somehow i’m still here and i’m thankful for that. i often forget how lucky i am to being doing what i love every day. whether is it practicing, charting songs, playing, teaching, or meeting new people, i’m beyond blessed that i get to do this.
i am easily distracted and always want to do 10000 things. i am still confused, lost in life and don’t know which path to take. i am not good with people and constantly say or do the wrong thing. but i resolve to work harder, get better, and be a musician and person that i am proud of.
i owe a lot to my friends and mentors who have helped me grow as a person and a musician. to Jeremy
@oneandonlyteng , thank you for bringing me into the scene and always pushing me in professionalism, playing, and personhood. to my teachers
@bryantoro89 ,
@betweenivories ,
@sticksman76 ,
@teojiarong ,
@xbred ,
@col2404 , thank you for imparting your wisdom and perspectives about music and life to me and answering my neverending questions. to everyone who has been kind to me; there are too many to name, but it always warms my heart to think of you. thank you for being a light in my life.
as i enter my 5th year in the music scene, i aim to spend more time enjoying music. my goal is to be like a small kid, just learning songs and playing music for the pure love and passion of it. i want to take life a little less seriously and put the ‘play’ into playing music.
but more importantly, i commit to becoming a better person that i and others respect. beyond music, if i am not a good person, what does it matter? at the end of the day, i want to be able to look at who i am and what i’ve done and be proud of myself. to be able to look in the mirror and respect the person there.
who knows how long i can do this for? but here’s to the next few years. music is a never-ending universe and i look forward to spend more time exploring it.
