An email from Cherry Red Records in the fall of 2015 was monumental for An April March. The label requested to include âMemoryâ (from Impatiens) for their comprehensive 5CD box set celebrating the shoegaze genre, âStill in a Dream: The Story of Shogaze 1988-1995â.
To share a space with Cocteau Twins, Curve and Swervedriver, who were particularly influential to me in the 90âs, was, and still is, such an honor.
This box set features classic tracks from well-known artists (Slowdive, Ride, Lush) and rare recordings from lesser-known artists (like Secret Shine and our lovely label mates The Curtain Society).
AAM guitarist Chris Perry graces the cover (original photo submitted to Cherry Red Records included for reference).

Memory Gardens, the first official release for An April March, is now available for digital download exclusively on Bandcamp (anaprilmarch.bandcamp.com).
Memory Gardens was released on cassette only in 1990 (out of print).
Includes early versions of âGates Within Usâ (reworked recording appears on the album Impatiens and as a B-Side to âLavaâ vinyl single) and âOf Leaves and Sweetnessâ (updated recording appears on Adagio).
Second image is the first official band photo. If anyone in the band remembers the photographer I will add the credit!
Thanks to Amanda HappĂŠ for the high res scan.
Last images of angel, used for the cassette cover, is my own photography. Cemeteries were popular locations for my photography class assignments ;) No surprise, then, that Memory Gardens is the name of a cemetery in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, where the band first formed.
