The way this forest has existed for millennia... the resilience of this hundreds years old tree beginning again... the slow, unstoppable momentum of life force to keep surging & growing over time and through all of the traumas & challenges.... by far this is the holiest place I've ever spent Easter.
The girls and I went tent camping for spring break. Lots of fun, lots of work, lots of cooking, lots of storytelling, lots of exploring ... lots of embodied activity with no internet. Success. (My 5 year old sang this song spontaneously on several mornings 🥰)
If we could create any world, what would you make? What else is possible? I'd make one where people can walk by and engage with real conversation and make some art ❤️🔥🔥

The arts touch stuff like nothing else can! We're trying to bring that energy as resistance to all that we wish were different in the world. What else could be possible? I'd love some friends at the protest paint out, to bring ourselves a little peace and extend it in to the world! Because Creativity is contagious! NK3 tomorrow at 2! We'll be there early setting up. Plein air with friends at Oso Flaco Lake and I painted the Arroyo Willows that line the path in. I've always loved it here and never knew these trees were willow ❤️❤️ thankful for my artist friends @sheryl_knight_fine_art and @lynn_attig_fine_art ❤️❤️
I was just talking w someone today about grief and joy and how being fully with the little joys interrupt the weight of pain. The kids and I grapple each in our own way on this journey and we try as best we can to pay attention. @eviesky_ rendition of funeral by phoebe bridgers... My surrounding cities have a constant la migra presence. Families are being separated here daily. People should be aware that this is happening. These rocks are meant to make it visible.
Some rocks sit outside the SLO family courthouse, where adoptions are finalized. We had one of our adoptions finalized there- a place where families are united. Paradoxically, these rocks represent families that have been separated, with no knowledge of ever being reunited again. Only we can save us.
