Many years of saying I’m not a romantic, followed by one year of @thuartpeatrick proving me wrong. Happy anniversary, sweetheart. Let’s watch a movie together.

My short story - the first I wrote in grad school! - about two Bengali overachievers who decide they don’t want to be “good” anymore is out now in the @the_masters_review It’s been a long journey for this story very close to my heart, and I’m so grateful for the editors for giving it a home ♥️ link in story and bio!

This October, join Annesha Mitha (@anneshamitha ) for a four-week workshop on Literary Horror: Using Fear in Fiction. This class will explore how “scary fiction” can be used in socially conscious storytelling. It will take place on Wednesdays (October 1st–22nd) from 6:00–8:30 PM ET and is open to all writers of color. For more information, including how to register and apply for a scholarship, visit kundiman.org/online-classes. Link in bio. Excited and privileged to teach a literary horror class with @kundimanforever for this Halloween month! We’ll be discussing how fear and horror can be used to create visions of our future, warnings for our present, and commemorate the past. Come join me! And check out the other awesome classes while you’re at it.

The lake is large but it is not infinite, and many of its beautiful creatures - including humans - are at threat because Illinois and Chicago are courting AI companies to build data centers on this beautiful and stolen land. AI’s impact on the land is an extension on the colonialist mindset that views the Earth as a place to take from, never a place to give. In a time when we should be tending the earth’s wounds, we are ripping them open. When does it end? Lately, I’ve been thinking about moral panic, and how they’re never for what we should be panicking for. Can we have a good moral panic for once? Can we freak the fuck out about AI? Can we kick up a fuss? Can we create a fervor for a topic that actually deserves it? Some dear friends are organizing folks for sustained fuss-making. We’ll be calling @govpritzker to say NO to AI water usage in Illinois. DM for more information and a script!
