Are they guests? Yes! Live event guest portraits As the artist sees and works up from life with quick drawing and watercolor. Precious little keepsakes in my impressionist style. These are the kind of guest portraits I do, working in multiples tacked onto a board on my easel so I can sketch quickly and then place them down on my board to apply the watercolors. They dry right away and are perfect for gifting. Like everyone, I start with quick sketches to loosen up at the beginning of the evening… This is one of those in the upper left. And don’t you just love my sterling silver water cup?… (Or is it wine…?! ) Getting the grasp of quick gesture, drawing like this, and including Portrait features, has taken a long road of training, practicing, and performing. Imagine doing this, and having great conversations and laughter with the people we are capturing. After all, there is so much energy to be enjoyed and saved to be remembered from events where people visit and celebrate and have a great time… The least I can do is help them remember their gorgeous outfits. POV when you’ve moved into your new house and you have the wall picked out already for your #weddingpainting… And the painter delivers the painting in person. and you love it and you hang it right away! A couple of good points to remember 1. If it’s a real oil painting, make sure it does not hang in any direct sunlight, any day of the year, to prevent fading. 2. there’s never a good time to wipe the painting surface itself, but any soft dust rag or feather duster is perfect for your frame if that gets a little dusty from time to time. 3. Protect the back of your canvas. The linen will be stretched very very tightly and that makes it more susceptible to getting a puncture wound if you lean it up against anything sharp. Raw fine Belgian linen is also susceptible to water damage so be careful that the back of your painting doesn’t get water or sustained moisture exposure. And if it does get wet by accident, be sure to prop it somewhere with airflow so it can dry thoroughly. 4. If it’s a true Impressionist style painting, try to hang it in a spot that can be seen from a distance first. Rome, Georgia #EstateWeddings #LiveWeddingPainting when the rain comes and the outdoor ceremony moves inside… So lucky when there’s a gorgeous alcove for the ceremony, and enough space to bring all the guests in to enjoy the ceremony anyway. And I had a great experience setting up in the kitchen that overlooked the space… Behind a beautiful marble island which I was able to include in the foreground of the painting.
