Ancient figures have begun creeping into my paintings, a carpenter ambling along Carpenter’s Road and a bill poster at work, maybe a hauntology, they drift past modern and postmodern buildings as I reconsider past, present and future of these places.
More to follow.
Great to see Christine Kozlov show at @raven__row - expansive, smart self-reflexive, I like the lists - Duration Piece and Eating Piece, and the B2 bomber display. Most works are from her archive which she maintained over many years in London. Make time to watch Lizzie Borden film Born in Flames for which Kozlov’s band The Red Krayola made the title track.
Thanks to Curator #rheaanastas and all involved
Bravo #christinekozlov

Small Views
This week’s new paintings are inspired by small views around my studio which is beside Carpenter’s Estate, between Stratford and the Olympic Park.
New hoardings, incessant building work, shifts in light, seasonal change, things never stay the same.
So pleased to have been gifted The Alienation Effect; How Central European Emigrés Transformed the British Twentieth Century. Owen Hatherley explores Film + Photography, Publishing, Art, Planning and Architecture, highlighting the enormous contribution made to British culture by migrants who sought sanctuary from fascism. A very timely volume #thealienationeffect
Critical Nature
Channelling wild plant energy from the Greenway in East London by the Olympic Park as I cycle to the studio, watching seasonal change, resilience in urban nature. One of a series of 12 ‘stations’, or meditations to observe the year.
November, Greenway
Oil on canvas, each 42 x 29.5 cm
Critical Nature paintings are available for sale. DM for details.
