What does luxury mean in fashion today? And who gets to define it?
In this conversation, Mimma Viglezio sits down with Anna Foster, founder and creative director of E.L.V. DENIM, to explore a model that starts not with raw materials, but with what already exists. Every piece begins with discarded garments - reworked, re-cut and rebuilt into new collections, designed entirely from waste.
Before launching E.L.V. DENIM, Anna spent two decades as a fashion editor and director, working with titles including i-D, EXIT and RUSSH. Her shift into design marked a move away from commentary on the industry, towards actively reshaping it. Today, her East London-based brand has grown from denim into a full ready-to-wear collection, all produced through a 100% upcycled process.
Together, they explore what it takes to build a genuinely sustainable fashion business in an industry often criticised for greenwashing. From the realities of scaling upcycling, to the tension between rising prices and declining quality, the conversation looks at where responsibility sits - and what meaningful change might actually look like.
Moving beyond theory, this is a practical and grounded look at how fashion could operate differently - and what a more thoughtful version of luxury might be.

It is my birthday on Saturday, and for an early gift to myself I visited my dear friend @andreacpfeffer who owns the incredible @saloncstellar .
Andrea has been my ‘skinspiration’ since 2015 when she extended her Fashion PR agency to include Beauty. She launched Pfeffer Sal as a one-room salon with one therapist and that was it – I was obsessed. Pfeffer Sal evolved and she launched Salon C. Stellar in January 2023, a beautiful space on Beak Street, and once again is London’s reigning skincare queen (She also very kindly agreed to walk in the E.L.V. DENIM show!!!! and we have used the beautiful space to hold events)
