Process and installation images of Cipher — now up at the University of Maine in Orono. Cipher is the fourth Percent for Art commission Anna Hepler and I have collaborated on and is comprised of 6 low relief tile murals installed on different walls throughout the lobby of Neville Hall, which houses the English and Math departments at UMO.
As always, what a joy to be able to work with our hands, together, and with the support of many wonderful people, namely: Miranda Winter, Rhett Del Pino Morgan, Slater Clark, Galen Harwood, and Ariela Kuh. Working on these projects with Anna has become such an integral and grounding part of my studio world. The challenges, triumphs, tears, laughter, labor, repetition, and conversations are meaningful. Working and talking, working and listening, working and thinking, working and working.
Reflecting on a powerful two weeks at @township10 in the company of @heatherwatkinsstudio@mestizo_pottery@delosflores@esceramics . Here, work was more philosophical than material, though we had our hands in clay.
It was an unforgettable passage, held by beautiful architectural spaces, layered and lush greenery, and the ever present sounds of gurgling creeks.
Thank you @township10 ♥️
Images include an old tobacco barn, bead board in the cottage, a page from American Folk Pottery.
