Once again our hearts are bursting and overflowing with love and appreciation… darling Sibyl completing our family. What a blessing she is 💕🙏🏼

My favourite thing about pregnancy has always been how people around me change … Complete strangers insist on me skipping the queue. People stop me in the street to ask questions and spark a conversation. “¿Es tu primer bebé?” I love the laughter and shock when I reply “Es mi quinto.”
The best part has been how our children are now interacting with me, they carry my bags, hold my hand whilst walking in the street, they don’t fight in the car on the way home from school (please can that stay?), Bertie doesn’t ask to be carried as much - instead rubs my belly in quiet three-year-old understanding. If I’m uncomfortable they say “baby please be a good girl for mummy”.
Yes we’ve named her, everyone had their choices and we all loved one, we have prepared her room, picked out the bits and bobs. Seeing our little children focus on big decisions has been the sweetest thing to witness.
I’ve had the close age gaps of 18 months, 14 months and then 3, 4 and 6 years and I can’t wait for this older gap. The boys are asking if they can baby wear when we unpacked the carrier and if they can change her nappy as we arrange them on her change table and marvel at how teeny tiny they are. Bea asked “can you put your milk in a bottle sometimes so I can feed her?”
They’re in heated discussions about who will sit next to her in the new car. With Teddy insisting it’s him as he’s the eldest. Henry, ever the diplomat, suggesting he sticks with Albert so he doesn’t get upset and Bea in fits of tears and rage “she’s my FIRST sister and I’ve NEVER had a sister, and Agnes and Daphne don’t count, and it’s NOT FAIR”!
Dad has been in London this week for work and everyone wanted to sleep with me. We’ve done less after school activities and birthday parties, when I apologised Henry said “it’s ok mama you’re too pregnant” and Teddy “it really doesn’t matter if we skip a week or two” 🥹
There’s something about the pending arrival of new life that brings out the best in us. Grown ups and children alike. The curiosity and kindness … 💕 one week to go!

The in-between.
Where I can’t wait to meet her… to feel her little hands and toes, kiss her cheeks, and bottle up that delicious newborn smell. To feel her skin on mine, and finally experience all those wriggles from the outside.
Yet at the same time, the reality of this being my last pregnancy — the closing of a ten-year fertility journey — is beginning to settle in.
And I know I’ll miss it.
The rolling from side to side all night.
Gently pushing her knees from my ribs.
The constant movement within me… her hiccups, her rolls.
I feel the tears well up even writing this.
What a gift this season of life is 💕
