Hi. Been a while. Sorry to anyone who has been left on "read" since May, I didn't mean to ignore you, I'm just fully immersed in living the dream. The past 4 months have been such a whirlwind, I don't fully realise yet how much my life has changed. From the hectic London life to being welcomed by the warm Northern hospitality, I am settling well to this drastic change of scenery. But the pace is just as intense, if not more - and that's awesome. I am now a proud and honoured member of the Kynren team, and if I had told this to my past self in 2021, as she was about to start her first summer show season as a new volunteer, she would have probably said a few Italian swear words and called me a liar. Somehow, it's true, and I love it. There is no crazier and more enthusiastic feeling than to be part of the best and most epic live show in the country, supporting hundreds of talented volunteers, helping direct a whole new scene, promoting this insane project and following the future (even more insane and epic) developments. Ready to make Kynren and the North East of England shine ✅️🌟💪⚔️ #liveperformance #countydurham #livingthedream #volunteering

Goodbye London, the past 4 years ish have been incredible... I will definitely miss some aspects of my Londoner life, the great views and architecture and access to culture, and especially in that corner of Ealing where I have a cute cat, lovely horses and one of the best amateur theatres where we can all be silly after a day's work ❤️ But I cannot ignore the call for great things happening in the North East... See you soon tho xxx

For almost a year now, I experienced the abrupt jump from an on-set freelancer lifestyle to a full-time office employee. What a jump indeed. Working in this strange new world has been filled with odd discoveries. Why does my direct desk neighbour prefer to communicate with me via Teams messages and not actual speech? Why is the mere action of standing and walking to spend 2 minutes in the kitchen for a coffee so thrilling? Why is the main topic of the conversation the weather INSIDE the office (with the great battle between the pro- and anti-aircon)? Compared to the hectic pace of a film set, I now have lunch breaks that consist of thinking as little as possible, and meetings that sometimes feel like simply a great excuse to use a nice boardroom and have a pleasant chat between colleagues. Instead of dreading how spending a whole day outside might get me soaked or sunburnt, I now dread the vitamin D deficiency from not feeling a single ray of sunshine on me for days on end. After the harsh back pains from 12 hours non-stop of standing and running from one film crew member to the next, I experienced for the first time high-level of numb-bottom-ness from unconsciously remaining frozen in my seat for 5 hours in a row. Sounds like whatever the environment, the strange absurdities and the unhealthy habits affect anyone. (P.S: I don't actually work inside the Shard but it's close by and my office building looks pretty shabby soooo)

THE VEIL season 1 is out now (it's been out in the US for a month actually but I'm super late as usual to post about work)! The biggest shoot I have ever worked on, across 3 countries, from -25°C to 30°C, with snow and rain and earthquakes... But above all hundreds of people who gave so much of their time and effort for this show, and I am honoured to have met some of these exceptional men/women/non-binary legends ✨️ I'm sorry I don't have pictures of all of you, I promise I think about our adventures together often ❤️ So here are some random pictures and videos, starting with 1) the view from Hasandaği Mountain (actually volcano...) base camp 2) Stef and I at our worst angle in the Blue Mosque 3) Lewis' favourite floor runner 4) Jeanne in a typical Set PA position 5) Louis and Jeanne before the looongest night shoot (not so smiley in the morning) 6) the behind-the-scenes of a simple "car driving up the street" scene 7) Cam A is good to go 🎬 ! 8) live broadcast of Charles 3rd's coronation by the tea table 9) Marguerite's new career at a farmer's market 10) same, Mary Bury, same. Big love to the Metamorph crew 💃🇨🇵🇹🇷🇺🇲🇬🇧

Last week, I worked on what might be my last film shoot for a while. On the way home, I held back tears as I remembered all the amazing experiences I have had while on set as Assistant Director/Floor Runner. Unfortunately, the past year has been very difficult, in many different ways, as I am sure my fellow film & TV crew members can relate. The period of strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA last summer (although justified) initiated a huge change in atmosphere as almost every production paused, and it was an eye-opener for me as I realised that my skills and work experience were too specialised in AD-ing. While trying to navigate this current crisis and scouting for other jobs outside of my area of expertise, my CV seemed too weak compared to candidates who had had more conventional positions or more diverse opportunities. Moreover, the flaws of the British Film & TV industry are now more obvious to me than ever. What real protection do we, cast and crew who spend usually well beyond 50 hours per week at work and who contribute to a huge part of the cultural and financial wealth of the UK, have access to when the demand for workers is suddenly non-existant and the usual ebb and flow of freelancing is interrupted? And what support do we get for sacrificing so much for the Arts in a system that prefers to pay overtime rather than avoid it at all, and doesn't shy away from considering us all replaceable on the spot? I believe the British industry needs to think about what values and principles we want to shape and protect to ensure a bright future where film and TV-makers can thrive happily. I cannot aford to wait until such important questions are answered, and so I must step away from sets for a while and make the most of new experiences. I am about to start a full-time job in a film-related company, with a lovely team and some much-needed stability. I am really looking forward to this new chapter full of great potential, especially to learn more about a completely different aspect of working in the entertainment world. And until I perhaps one day get back to the set life, I will always smile at seeing a film crew on location, and keep quiet when they roll xxx
