I ascend the escalator into shoes and a few minutes later, a man named Stephen approaches me who works with Sabyasachi.
He says, the designer spotted your outfit from across the room — it’s one of his earliest outfits. He’d love to meet you.
Me: 😱
I managed to say: I bought it in 2012!
Stephen: yes, that’s what he said.
Me: how did he remember?!
Stephen: he has incredible recall.
Later when I meet Sabyasachi, he says, hang on to this one. We were just starting out, and we didn’t have manufacturing — I hand block printed this outfit myself.
