#memademay day 17: the @moodfabrics #garnetcardigan and #lanaihandkerchiefdress. Outer dress fabric is a quilting cotton with a beautiful geometric print. It came from a quilting store up north I don’t recall the name of. Lining is from an old cotton bedsheet.I love the dress not only for how breezy and comfy it is, but also because both pieces are exact squares, making this a #zerowastepattern!

#memademay day 15: Dropping off fabric for the Sustainable Stitch Sale at @sewinvitingmn in the #floatontop by @houseofizzie. Today was beautiful, the first truly hot day of the season, so I was really grateful for how light and breezy this top is (fabric is viscose). Perfect for toting bags of fabric and making multiple bus transfers! AND I actually won a kit with all the materials for it, as if I needed more reasons to love it.

Another small cheat for #memademay day 14 because I’m not actually wearing this out today. (No “Eyes Wide Shut” parties on my calendar rn ) But I still wanted to show it off! It’s a quick little black lace face mask with ribbon ear fasteners (part of a collection idea I’m messing around with). It’s based on the famous @craftpassion mask pattern, women’s size, and the lace was from my stash.

#memademay 13 from earlier today: the #marigoldcamisole from @moodfabrics . I couldn’t find any picture of this on the mannequin from when I originally made it in 2023, just the second picture, which I took about a month after finishing it. It’s made from poly silk charmeuse from Jo-Ann and it’s very comfortable, even on a sweaty day like today!

Another last-minute #memademay submission for day 10, and it’s a repeat (the zw tessellated dress by @lizhaywood3754 ), but in my defense it’s Mother’s Day and I wanted to wear my most comfortable brunch-accommodating outfit! @caroljroth and I had another wonderful day to ourselves complete with mimosas at home and flowers and cards before brunch. Love this annual tradition of ours!

Last-minute #memademay day 9: the #ittakestwopants from @houseofizzie! These pants are another staple that gets tons of compliments, and they’re made from two soft, drapey knits, so they’re basically good for everything: running errands, traveling, napping! and the @slimstoneofficial shirts gets a lot of wear too.

#memademay day 8: my travel bag again and a mini version of the tessellated dress from @lizhaywood3754 ‘s book Zero Waste Sewing. It’s made from super soft cotton from Chicago Fabric Yarn and Button Sales (check out @sewanastasia for a recent post about this gem!)This dress has become my wardrobe MVP since I made it! I wear it over shorts, leggings, jeans, by itself. True story, I spent the whole day sewing in this dress over jeans, then took off the jeans, threw on some heels and makeup, and wore it to a party that night (pic 3). _And_ I get compliments on it all the time! So basically, I need to make like one for every day of the week.

#memademay day 7: I missed yesterday so here’s 2.5 makes in one outfit: the ZW slip dress (another from @birgittahelmersson ‘s Zero Waste Patterns book), a self-drafted bag, and a modified @thelmaandthesleaze tee. The dress is crepe-backed satin. The bag is faux alligator vinyl from @fabricwholesaledirect lined with black cotton twill from my stash and bound with a man’s tie I picked up at @thestashery. I can’t stand high necks on tops, so I cut the collar off the t-shirt and also cropped it to waist level.I hadn’t worn the dress out because I thought I needed a special occasion to wear it. But I happily lounged around the house in this, and almost went to the grocery store, until we decided we had enough broccoli. So I’m calling this a win for my goal of wearing my dressier pieces more often!Also, the bag is #forsale! It’s a prototype I don’t need to keep, so if you’re interested DM me and we can work something out! It’s 17” wide, 14” tall at the handle/10” high body, and 6” wide.

#memademay day 5: pants from @birgittahelmersson’s wonderful Zero Waste Patterns book (which I bought at the equally wonderful @open.studio.sewing ).These pants are made from some kind of soft, thick flannel I got in a @moodfabrics mystery box. They’re the softest pants I own, and they seem to actually retain heat somehow, which was amazing this past winter. But I’m not in love with the shape and what they do to/for my legs, so this will likely be the first and last time you see them here on IG! Oh, and the sweatshirt is from @trapperschoepp, merch for his album of the same name!

Okay, tiny bit of a cheat for #memademay day 4 since I’m not wearing this _today_, but in my defense i downloaded the photos of the 70s beach coverup dress I made for #tcfrocktails today, and it’s just so cute I had to share it again! (and I really am wearing #memade today, I swear!)1: Me showing off the book that inspired the dress (Make It Yourself #5, from 1974 I think)2. Heading to get my raffle prize with the champagne of beers. (I may have been a little excited.)3. Getting the prize, a set of @sarahhearts labels!4. Me and @kjomakes in her gorgeous 1920s dress! 5. So happy I can’t even open my eyes. I tagged everyone I remembered, but please add if you see yourself!

3 pieces for #memademay day 3: a wearable toilet of the #feelingloopydress by @houseofizzie, the mini traveler pouch by @kandoucrafts, and a small snap wallet by @heatherhandmade. The dress is mainly a set of sheets from goodwill, plus some emergency quilting cotton from @nina_chicago when I miscalculated the yardage. The purse is vinyl from Jo-Ann, wallet is a mix of cotton canvas and quilting cotton fabrics, probably also from Jo-Ann.The purse and wallet I use every day, but I don’t wear the dress as much as I would like to, mainly because of mistakes made while rushing (didn’t fit the bust closely, didn’t gather the side panels enough), but I think I can fix it with a couple of side darts and some new “decorative” lines of gathering stitches. Going to put it on the mending pile with the palm tree dress!

#memademay day 2: the Garnet cardigan from #moodsewciety, made in a cozy knit from #joannfabrics, rip. I made this cardigan with my old serger, which was on its last legs, so the inner seam finishes aren’t great. But it’s so comfortable, and every time I wear it I get compliments, so I haven’t been bothered to go back and tidy it up. The dress (from Marshall’s) might be my next project. It doesn’t have pockets and it drives me crazy! ‍ Wore this out today when I went to StP to @sewingloungemn to get some knives and scissors sharpened. Good thing it was a very comfy outfit because I was on the bus for a loooong time today!
