Each year, in a quiet corner of England, one snail becomes the hero of the World Snail Racing Championships. The film opens with animation, building tension as competitors set off. Pause. Through an interview with the Snail Master, we learn the event’s history and meet the caretakers and their snails. Play. The winner is revealed, celebrating triumph with a bucket of lettuce, a reminder that even the smallest can be heroes.

✨ We’re back from a few intense and inspiring days in Bordeaux at Cartoon Movie.
A huge thank you to @cartoon_media.eu for selecting our project “EJO” and giving us the opportunity to present it to such an incredible international audience. The response to the project was truly wonderful – thank you for all the warm words, conversations and support. We are coming back with even more energy to continue working on this story. “EJO” is not an easy film. It tells a story about the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide, seen through the eyes of children. Sharing this story with the international animation community and feeling such openness and engagement meant a lot to us.
Cartoon Movie is one of the most important events in the European animation industry – a co-production forum where producers present feature animated film projects to investors, distributors and partners from all over the world. Many international collaborations start right here.
The trip was also a great opportunity to finally meet our co-production partners in person. In Bordeaux we spent time with “EJO” co-producers: Sébastien Onomo from Special Touch Studios 🇫🇷, Dida Nibagwire who flew in directly from Rwanda 🇷🇼, and Mbuotidem Johnson from Basement Animation 🇳🇬. Since we usually work remotely and across different time zones, meeting face-to-face was especially meaningful.
Special thanks also to Polish Film Finstitute @pisf_pl for supporting our trip to Bordeaux. ❤️
✨“EJO,” written by Kas Zawadowicz and directed by Jacek Rokosz, has been nominated for Eurimages 2026 during Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux.
Our project is among a select few chosen to compete for the Best Development award as part of the Eurimages Co-production Development Award – an initiative supporting international co-productions from the very early stages.
Today marks the final stretch – the final pitch in the competition that will determine the winner.
Each year, around 50–100 feature-length animated films are produced in Europe, which makes it even more exciting that the development of “EJO” has been recognized in such a prestigious context.
We are incredibly proud and grateful to the entire team. Keep your fingers crossed for “EJO”!

🎬 It’s our pleasure to introduce the people behind the magic of RO! Here are the masterminds on the set: director Magda Osińska @magdalena_osinska and animation director Piotr Ficner @piotr.ficner - probably the best duo all over the world!
They are holding our puppets, Teo and Mia, who are slowly coming to life on the screen.
✨ What a year! „Can you hear me?” directed by Anastazja Naumenko absolutely crushed it!
The journey began with the world premiere at the Glasgow Short Film Festival, followed by its Polish premiere at Millennium Docs Against Gravity, and from that moment on, everything took off. One festival led to another, awards followed, and the wave just kept growing.
In 2025, „Can You Hear Me?” traveled to 4️⃣0️⃣ festivals around the world, had 2 special screenings, and brought home 8️⃣ awards. An incredible run we’re immensely proud of!
This film proved that an intimate, honest story can resonate far beyond borders, with audiences, juries, and programmers alike.
What a ride. What a year. What a film. 💛
