There was not a dull moment at SYAA 2026 ✨
For one full week in Bucharest, 11 participants from across the region came together to develop their animated film projects, share ideas, challenge each other, and grow, both individually and as a community.
🫂 From hands-on development sessions guided with care and insight by our amazing mentors Kasia (
@kasiaeg ) and Raluca (
@lunamerusac ), to inspiring talks, screenings, and late-night conversations, SYAA
continues to be a space where voices take shape and confidence grows. 🌻
↪︎ This year, we expanded our public programme and opened the door to new conversations. A special highlight was Mélody Boulissière’s (
@melovadrouille ) masterclass on moving from short film to animation
series, organized together with PRO TV (
@protv_romania ) & VOYO (
@voyo.ro ) ➡︎ an important step in exploring new directions for the industry.
↪︎ We were also thrilled to welcome filmmaker Karin Fisslthaler (
@karin_fisslthaler ), with the support of
@forumul_cultural_austriac , for a screening curated by Tricky Women / Tricky Realities (
@trickywomen ) ➡︎ a reminder of how powerful the connection between
artists and audiences can be.
Participants also got a behind-the-scenes look at the industry during our visit to
@studioset.tv , and explored the legal side of filmmaking with Theo Pârvu (who somehow makes legal frameworks actually engaging). 👀
💛 Huge thanks to
@m_n_l_r_bucuresti and
@goethe_institut_bucuresti for hosting us so warmly.
☕ And a special mention to
@cafea_kafune , who kept us awake, focused, and going (you know how crucial that is).
🤝 SYAA is organised by
@animest.ro &
@animation.festival.network , co-financed by
@creative.eu and
@eurimagescoe .
Until next time ➡︎ keep creating, keep connecting! 🎬
