All the ducks are in a row 🦆🦆🦆 I am very happy to finish this commission for the Kleppelunden school in Rogaland, Norway which I have been working on since last fall 🧑‍🎨 The project really began with drawing a small bronze bird from ca 500 AD at the @arkeologiskmuseum for my exhibition there in 2023 (✍🏼last slide). This beautiful piece was found at Kleppe, where the new school is built 🌟✨ 🦉from this I created a wall installation with local birds from the past, present and perhaps the future. The area of Jæren is an important place for birds both transiting in migration and those staying for the summer/winter. 🐦‍⬛🦢🦅 Thank you @daniela_arriado for excellent curating 🌟🐦‍🔥🌟 📸 @karinsundero 🦉

Repost • @helsinkibiennial Every edition of Helsinki Biennial expands the art collection that belongs to all residents of Helsinki 💚 From Helsinki Biennial 2025, glass flowers and a soundscape included in Norwegian artist duo LOCUS / Thale Blix Fastvold & Tanja Thorjussen’s work have been acquired to the art collection of the City of Helsinki. Zostera Marina’s song of increase is dedicated to a species of seagrass native to the Baltic Sea: common eelgrass (Zostera marina). In this project, the artists envisage a hopeful, speculative, utopian future for common eelgrass, which they imagine as blooming and thriving in the Baltic Sea. *** Jokainen Helsinki Biennaali jättää jälkensä kaikkien helsinkiläisten omaan taidekokoelmaan 💚 Vuoden 2025 Helsinki Biennaalista kaupungin taidekokoelmaan on hankittu norjalaisen taiteilijaduon LOCUS / Thale Blix Fastvold & Tanja Thorjussenin teoskokonaisuuteen Zostera Marinan kasvun laulu kuuluneet lasikukinnot ja äänimaisema. 📸 LOCUS / Tanja Thorjussen & Thale Blix Fastfold: Zostera Marina’s song of increase / Zostera Marinan kasvun laulu, 2025 (details/yksityiskohdat). Creating new mythologies - Oracle of the planets and interstellar visitors ☄️ Connecting to Mars, Sun, Venus, Earth and Jupiter, following the trajectory of the comet 3IAtlas – the interstellar visitor, we will rediscover meanings and archetypes that are associated with these entities. How can we connect with the planets and their own unique resonance? How can we receive messages from the planets and become their oracles? In this 5-week class, taught by Norwegian artist Tanja Thorjussen, we will find inspiration from the cosmos, explore practical techniques to find our own expression, and create new art in a workshop setting. Taught online via Zoom Sundays, February 1 - March 1 2026 1 pm - 2:30 pm ET (New York) // 7 pm - 8:30 pm CET (Oslo) $130 Earlybird (sign up before Jan 15) / $150 General Admission SIGN UP link in bio 🏹 Please note: All classes will be recorded for those unable to attend

How can we co-create mythologies—through story, image, art-making, and ritual—with and about the more-than-human world? In this workshop, Creating Mythologies for New Futures, beginning this Sunday, November 23, with artist Tanja Thorjussen, we will invent speculative mythologies rooted in the natural world. Together, through hands-on creative making, we will listen deeply to nature’s voice so we can craft stories that address our challenging era and offer optimistic new possibilities for transformation. Today, many prevailing myths center around heroes, winners, and conquerors—fear-driven, dystopian narratives in which a lone individual saves the world. These patriarchal stories too often perpetuate cycles of scarcity and violence, merely replacing one system of oppression with another. Instead of inspiring genuine change, they can keep us stuck in destructive loops. By connecting to and listening to plants, animals, fungi, and bodies of water, we can find new stories that foster connection and renewal in a fresh way. During the day of the dead/samhain/allehelgensdag, I visited my aunt @lillethorjuss and learned a great deal about my ancestors 🌟 Sending a special sparkle of joy to the other side for my great grandmother Gunhilde who had numerous bees in her garden and which one of the hives I tend is named after 🐝 She strike me as a generous, confident and sturdy woman. She won silver medal for her beeswax, so she knew what she was doing and did it with love and care 🐝 🌻🌼 📸 1 Gunhilde (greatgrandmother) and Hans (grandfather) 2 Family in the garden 3 The beehives 4 Coffebreak in the sun 5 -6 summer outing 7 Great great grandmother 8 Dancing in the sun 9 Gunhilde 10 Kirsten (my aunt) 11 Grandmother, aunt and other family members 12 My aunt and I 🐝🌀🐝
