A universal quest for thruth in "Le cas délicat de Boucle d'Or" at the @theatre_ranelagh : “In a child-level trial, with the theatre transformed into a courtroom, the writer-performer brings to life, one after another, the judge, witness, victims, prosecutor and lawyer… a whole little world gathered around a single question: what is our truth of the story? @tourneuxperrine @noe.lovie @derrierelesmiroirs

Gorgeous tidal phenomenon : le “Mascaret” (tidal bore) in Saint-Pardon, Vayres, September 2025. This one was quite small but still impressive when seen for the first time. . . . . @region_nouvelle_aquitaine #gironde #mascaret #phenomenon #nature #leicaphoto @leica_camera #blackandwhitephotography #film

#TogetherForRescue

Francisca Mukinka is the founder and director of Namelok-Naretoi Home for the Handicapped in Entasekara. Since 1991, Franciska Mukinka, 52, has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about disability in the Maasai communities surrounding Entasekara, but also to ensure that disabled children receive the healthcare they need and have the opportunity to attend school. “Namelok-Naretoi” means “sharing success” in Maa. “I have changed people’s attitude towards disabled children. Up to now we have been able to support over 300 children through medical and education. I used to go around the community to beg them to get these children, now families identify children’s symptoms and conditions by themselves, and bring the children by themselves. These children are accepted in the community, they are together with other kids, integrated in school with other children without fear.” “I have been able to change a lot within my society, within my community but I have not fully achieved all of it. I see a lot of things that need to be done. I started another program of awareness and counseling for girls rescued from harmful practice. The community really needs a lot of guidance to change mentalities. I encountered a lot of challenges as a woman. Men don’t see woman being able to do anything. And they don’t support women. They disregard women for many things that they cannot do. But since I have overseen the program and what I have done, they see how I have gain in power and confidence. Even when I drive my vehicle. Nobody would ever think that a woman can get into a vehicle and drive.” This work is part of “On the art of being self-accomplished”, an exhibition running until Januray 31th 2024 at @afnairobi . Kanyi, 48, is an artist mostly working with watercolors, she teaches watercolors classes, and she does art therapy for children with cancer at Kenyatta National Hospital with “Hope for Cancer Kids”. “Art is so important, if you remove the arts from society what have you left. This is where my advocacy work comes in. Now I am advocating for creating structures and systems in the creative industry and I still want to be a fine art artist. When I went to graphic design, I was married, I was having children. I was either breastfeeding or pregnant for quite a long time. I just didn’t have time to even think about my dream. But I knew that I had this hole in me that was not being filled up. I started doing my painting full time during COVID. Now I believe, things have changed.” This work is part of “On the art of being self-accomplished”, an exhibition running until Januray 31th 2024 at @afnairobi . Monaja @monajamwenyewe is a performing and recording artist, historian, and activist from Kenya based in Nairobi. As an artist, Monaja has performed in various towns and cities across Kenya and Tanzania. His music, mainly written in Kiswahili and Sheng, addresses current socio-political issues. “I think that people are in this world for different reasons, I’m just following what I was put in this world to do. I was always a musical child. I always loved music, I would sing, I would come up with lyrics. I make music that speaks to my context. I’m someone who is in-between generations. I’m passing stories. I write music based on the knowledge I have, based on the observations I make. I connect generations and create music that people can listen to and kind of get some sort of value from it, some sort of energy from it that they can use and pass on to others.” This work is part of “On the art of being self-accomplished », an exhibition running until Januray 31th 2024 at @afnairobi . // EXHIBITION // Starting from tomorrow at @afnairobi with IFRA - Nairobi - @swissnationalsciencefoundation and l’Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR). Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to work collaboratively on a series of photo and video portraits on the notion of self-accomplishment in Kenya as part of SALMEA (Self-Accomplishement and Local Moralities in East Africa) Research Project. Come discover through personal stories, the quest for self-accomplishment as tied to questions of wealth, power, authority and respectability.
