Dish scrubbers are transformed into hair, stripped of their domestic function to become emblems of resistance. What was once a tool of obligation is now redefined as a gesture of feminine rebellion.

“Mamà” is her most personal homage: a tribute to the artist’s mother, a textile artist whose hands and creative discipline left a lasting imprint on Angels Grau’s artistic life.

We’re delighted to announce a last-minute addition to our AAF New York line-up: Àngels Grau. Known for her large-format paintings blending Catalan heritage with contemporary identity, her work shines a light on ‘Invisible Women’, the resilience and strength often overlooked in everyday life. Àngels Grau’s paintings are an interplay of colour, emotion, and heritage. Using a distinctive process of layering and softening pigments with water, she creates luminous works that speak to healing, resilience, and revelation. Born into a family of artists in Catalonia, Àngels began her career as a graphic designer before dedicating herself fully to painting in 2018. Working primarily on a large scale, she embraces experimentation, moving fluidly between series and pushing the boundaries of form and surface. Her celebrated Invisible Women & Brave Girls series shines a light on women’s resilience and identity, blending cultural heritage with a bold, contemporary voice. Today, her work is held in private collections worldwide, including those of leading cultural and business figures. Angel’s work attracted a lot of interest and many sales last time we exhibited her work and we are delighted to be taking a wonderful selection of her new work to the Affordable Art Fair in New York this September. To discover more head to our website via the link in our bio and if you can, we’d love to meet you in New York! #MeetTheArtist #AngelsGrau #AffordableArtFairNY #TheLaneArtGallery #ContemporaryArt #Catalonia #ArtCollectors #AffordableArt
