Filmed in the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan, this project presents a visual study of the Philippine Constabulary during the formative years of American rule in our country. The organization functioned as the country’s primary insular police force until 1991.
Widely remembered as the predecessor of the modern Philippine National Police, the Constabulary occupies a complex place in history. Its legacy includes documented issues of human rights abuses, corruption, and institutional inefficiency. It drew sustained criticism for heavy-handed enforcement, arbitrary arrests, and, for at times, operating as private militia for local politicians particularly during the Hukbalahap Rebellion and the Martial Law period.
This proof-of-concept short film explores the feasibility of producing historically grounded short films within a limited budget, made possible through collaboration with dedicated reenactors of Philippine history. It underscores the potential for stories of this nature to gain stronger presence in contemporary Philippine media space.

I’ve always known that Bohol will always live rent-free in my head
Life is nothing short of perpetual movement. The more life there is, the more flexibility there is. The more fluid you are, the more alive you are (Arnaud Desjardins)
Bohol was where I learned that. Where I learned to bend without breaking. To flow instead of force. To let the tides change me without losing myself (though I did lose myself there once lol)
Certain places don’t fade into memory. This is one of those places that hold the version of me that learned how to move without collapsing (maybe yes, maybe no, idk actually)

The Constabulary | Historical Short Film - Concept Trailer
Before the Philippine National Police, there was the Philippine Constabulary. Established in 1901, The Constabulary is a historical short film concept trailer that dives into the birth of the country’s first nationwide police force, an institution forged in conflict, shaped by colonial power, and torn between honor and corruption. Through cinematic visuals and a grounded portrayal of history, the trailer teases a powerful story about authority, resistance, and the difficult choices faced by men enforcing order in an unsettled nation. This is not just a story of uniforms and command. It’s a reflection on how early policing helped shape governance, trust, and the Philippines we know today.

a long-overdue collection of random clips and photographs from one of my rest days three months ago; along the warm breeze of august, i realized i’ve grown fond of specialty coffee, cheap brush pens, and that crimson ink that stains my old journal for good
i’d always loooooong for a quiet, sun-warmed rest days like this!! ☀️🌞
