During the Curacao International Film Festival 2026, The Cave became a vibrant meeting place, a hub for dialogue, reflection, and deeper insight into the world of film.
From emerging voices to established filmmakers, The Cave offered a space to connect, share perspectives, and celebrate the growing strength of Caribbean cinema. We are happy to share with you the highlights of these industry talks.
🎥 Host Angèle-Marie sat down with Michael Elias, Festival Director of the Curaçao International Film Festival, to discuss the importance of Caribbean filmmakers and their growing impact on the regional film industry.
Last, but not least, of the movies I got to watch from the Yellow Robin Nominees was “Mad Bills To Pay” directed by @joelalfonsovargas 🎬🍿
A movie that follows the story of Rico and Destiny as they navigate what it means to become parents.
Special thank you to @curacaoiff for the opportunity to cover these movies! 🫶🏽
The second movie I got to watch from the Yellow Robin Nominees was “If We Don’t Burn, How Do We Light Up The Night” directed by @kim__torrent 🎬🍿
@keylindelgado who plays Daniela in the movie was present for the Q&A and I got to talk to her. Such a relevant and important topic to be brought to the big screen during CIFF @curacaoiff 🫶🏽

Looking back at opening night of CIFF 2026 🎬
From live music setting the tone outside to a full theater inside, the night captured everything this festival stands for. Familiar faces, new connections, conversations in every corner, and that shared moment as the lights went down.
A strong start and a reminder of why we do this.
Now we’re heading into the weekend with a packed program of screenings, talks, masterclasses and plenty of moments to connect. Don’t miss what’s ahead.
See you at the fest.
What a great start! We kicked off the week on the red carpet 🎬🍿

Had the honor of hosting an Artist Talk for the beautiful @Aqueene Wilson for her expo SELFHOOD: Ora Mi Topa Mi Mes (When I Meet Myself).
A conversation about (restorative) rest, femininty and vulnerability as a black caribbean woman.
Being able to explore this topic with an artist like Aqueene in a room full of women hits close to home. What does it mean to rest as a mother, daughter and sister? Especially if you’ve never seen or experienced it before from the other woman in your life? More on this on substack soon.
Thank you @aqueene_wilson for the opportunity and to everyone that came through 🫶🏽
Join us next week for the closing event of Ora mi topa mi mes: a sit down conversation with Aqueene Wilson, led by Angèle-Marie Capriles.
