repost from @thekitchen_nyc w @crystallmess 💌 — The Kitchen’s Video Viewing Room series takes new form ✹On Screen✹– you can experience our renovated streaming space with Christelle Oyiri’s (@crystallmess ) film triptych “OBLIMEMBER” alongside a text written by Angelique Rosales Salgado (@ang.pdf ) đŸ–„ Christelle Oyiri is an interdisciplinary artist and performer born in the Paris region, who is also known as DJ and music producer CRYSTALMESS. Combining film, sound, performance and sculpture, Oyiri’s research-based practice focuses on the temporalities, tonalities, and textures and visual vernaculars of music, art, and popular and youth cultures within and outside the African diaspora. Launching the On Screen platform, the latest iteration of the VVR series presents Oyiri’s films titled “HYPERFATE” (2022), “GROTESQUE: They make beautiful things about ugly people” (2023), and “Collective Amnesia: In memory of Logobi” (2018–2022),— three works that engage the collective memory of forgotten mythologies—both ancient or ultra-contemporary. “Developing her own methodologies of archiving,” Rosales Salgado writes, “the artist disrupts the spinning pinwheel of nostalgia. Each of the films within Oyiri’s “OBLIMEMBER” hold a vivid, corporeal tension between the edge of remembrance and the dissonant eroticism of oblivion.” 📌The films are now On Screen until the following dates: đŸŽ„ “Collective Amnesia: In memory of Logobi” (2018–2022) through the end of 2023 đŸŽ„ “GROTESQUE: They make beautiful things about ugly people” (2023) through July 31, 2023 đŸŽ„ “HYPERFATE” (2022) through May 11, 2023 Explore On Screen and our newly renovated website through our link in bio ↗ – Credits: 1) Video excerpt, Christelle Oyiri, “Collective Amnesia: In memory of Logobi,” 2018-22. Swerve Fatigue continues... ⭑.ᐟ “The swerve is something that begins as a minor adjustment and accumulates into a collective condition...” đŸŒ€â€ïžâ€đŸ”„â On the occasion of Jonathan GonzĂĄlez’s multi-week residency (March 23–April 9) and public presentation of Swerve Fatigue at The Kitchen on April 10–11, 2026, Assistant Curator and organizer of Swerve Fatigue Angelique Rosales Salgado speaks with GonzĂĄlez about queer nightlife, archival throughlines in The Kitchen’s programmatic history, black femme voices at the center of popular music, desire, and enduring tensions in life that offer no immediate resolve, plus much more. Responding to questions around notions of intimacy and embodiment in their practice as a choreographer and writer, and in Swerve Fatigue, GonzĂĄlez shares: “
intimacy, then, is not about securing closeness but about remaining available to that instability when our touch meets. embodiment here becomes a site of return without resolution, where touch, sound, light, and haze can be encountered again, differently, without being fully known...” Read the full conversation in our online magazine On Mind, originally published within the performance program, alongside documentation by photographer Elvin Tavarez and filmmaker Rudy Gerson. Performers are Ananda Naima GonzĂĄlez, India Lena GonzĂĄlez, Marguerite Hemmings, Kingsley Ibeneche, AJ Wilmore, and Wayne Arthur. Sound design by Alexis De La Rosa and GENG PTP. Production by David Riley, Production & Exhibitions Manager, Tassja Walker, Production Supervisor, The Kitchen, Greta Hartenstein, Producer, and Nora Chellew, Stage Manager. 🔗 Head to the link in bio for more __________ Image credits: 1, 6, 7, 11–13, 17, 18) Photos by Elvin Tavarez @estudioelvin . 2) Beverly Buchanan, standing in Marsh Ruins, concrete and tabby, 1981. © Beverly Buchanan. WE ARE BACKKK ‌ Curator and writer Angelique Rosales Salgado leads a BIPOC CV and Resume Workshop that considers artist Sondra Perry’s “spectral bio” (2:26–10:20), created for the alternative experimental program Dark Study (developed by artists Caitlin Cherry and Nicole Won Hee Maloof), where Perry was a student advisor in 2022. Through this poetic pursuit as a departure point, the workshop explores strategies and resources for shaping a compelling CV / resume document in the arts. “ How do you name your multiplicity? “ (Kameelah Janan Rasheed) Together we will engage a series of questions, prompts, and exercises that guide how to narrativize your creative experiences, and conclude with individualized feedback on your CV, resume, or cover letter. 📝This in-person workshop is open to everyone across ages, industries, and professional experience (artists, designers, administrators, technicians, art workers, curators). Please note that the program prioritizes participants aged 17-30 and those who identify as QTBIPOC. Please be mindful of the limited capacity. Angelique Rosales Salgado (Ciudad de MĂ©xico, MĂ©xico) is a curator and writer based in New York City. Their curatorial, research, and creative practice is grounded in queer study, and focuses on performance, experimental dance, collective work, and time-based media. Currently they are Assistant Curator at The Kitchen, and have held curatorial positions at Pioneer Works, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Studio Museum in Harlem. ⌛ Ticket Link in Bio | Organized by Sarai Frazier

For over a decade, PTP has cultivated a storied and unrelenting energy of experimentalism within sound and performance-releasing work by artists ciphering between hip-hop, other electronic music, poetry, noise, and hardcore, like Dreamcrusher, YATTA, Dis Fig, Devin KKenny, amani, Rena Anakwe, Kepla & DeForrest Brown Jr., Swaya, and more. PTP forges narratives both sonic and visual. Its vision takes physical form as cassettes, CDs, vinyl records, paper ephemera, artist books, and garments, considering how design can be entangled with liveness as much as with research, memory / recall / sampling, language, and a political dialogue. The group’s principles of peer support and legacy-building extend to PTP Archival-an alliance of media makers committed to counter industrial history-telling by producing programming and materials in service of conscientious cultural preservation. + visionaries @auniqueting (2, 6, 8, 10, 13) @aishamoney (1, 3) @twobeadsattheend (4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14) behind the lens
