"Hello My Dear Friend" 🥩
I had the pleasure of filming Evgenia @genuachet on her experiment with raw meat. Through the act of biting into raw meat, she reconciles with her relationship with eating in her childhood, and this is one of the things that goes through her mind as she opens up a lot more emotions and associations both within herself and for the viewers. I remember she told me that she tried to love the meat before the shoot, and after a little break during our shoot, she said to the red raw meat “Hello, my dear friend” which I captured and included in the film…because to me, this is a heartfelt conversation with herself. It’s both confrontation and reconciliation. But this is not without struggle, pain and digging into grey realms of conflicting emotions and feelings. Her journey is both beautiful and cruel; touching and disturbing, serious and absurd. The associations and interpretations of this piece can be endless, depending on how one views this, but I do feel her in her cathartic experience.
It was without a doubt inspiring for me to witness and observe her through her performance. We had so much fun making this ❤️ This might be squeamish for some, but it’s full of love and emotions ❤️
