Tonight, we say goodbye to Outlander… to say it’s the end of an era is an understatement. For me, Outlander changed my life in ways I could never have imagined. From standing on set as supporting actor in multiple seasons in Highland dress and stepping into Scotland’s past… to years later walking the very same glens, castles and battlefields with people from all around the world, sharing the real history behind the story. Because that’s what Outlander did so brilliantly, it made people fall in love with Scotland. Not just the landscapes, but the culture, the clans, the Jacobites, the language, the music, the heartbreak and the history. It brought thousands of people home to a country many had only dreamed about. Over the years I’ve met Outlander fans from every corner of the world, and every single one carries their own story about what this show meant to them. Some found friendship through it. Some found comfort during difficult times. Some discovered their ancestry. Some even found love. Very few shows ever create a community like this one did. And for those of us lucky enough to work around it, be part of it, or simply witness the phenomenon up close… we know it was something special. Tonight the final episode airs after 12 incredible years. The story may be ending, but the impact it’s had on Scotland and on so many lives never will. So here’s to Jamie and Claire. To the cast and crew. To every fan who travelled across the world chasing standing stones and Highland stories. And to the beginning of eternal Droughtlander… To say goodbye, here’s a special video I made a couple of years ago telling the story behind the ā€œrealā€ Jamie Fraser. Tapadh leibh, Outlander. šŸ„ƒšŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æ #outlander #doughtlander #scotland #andythehighlander #jamiefraser

A long overdue return to the incredible @kitchencoosandewes There’s something special about standing beside Highland cows in the heart of the Scottish countryside. The quiet, the stories, the warmth, the connection to the land. It’s more than just a visit, it’s a memory that stays with you long after you leave. If I could recommend just one Scottish experience to anyone visiting this country… this would be right at the top of the list. #highlandcows #kitchencoosandewes #scotland #andythehighlander #highlandertours

The plague doctor outfit wasn’t designed to terrify people… but it definitely did the job. During the plague outbreaks of the 1600s, doctors wore these long black coats, leather gloves, and the famous bird-like masks while treating the sick. You can learn all about it and so much more at the amazing @marykingsclose The beak was packed with herbs, flowers, and spices because people believed disease spread through ā€œbad airā€ known as miasma. The waxed coat was meant to protect against infection, while the glass eye openings and cane helped doctors keep their distance from patients. To the people of Edinburgh, seeing this figure walk through the streets usually meant one thing… death was close behind. #andythehighlander #marykingsclose #edinburgh #scottishhistory #plaguedoctor

Scotland’s story didn’t begin with castles and clans… it began 420 million years ago. I visited the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels, in the heart of the Scottish Borders, one of the most incredible storytelling projects in the country. Across 160 hand-stitched panels, Scotland’s story unfolds from the very formation of the land itself, through our battles, legends, inventions, culture and people - all brought to life by around 1,000 stitchers using over 300 miles of wool. It’s more than a tapestry. It’s Scotland’s memory, stitched into cloth. And there’s something fitting about finding it here in the Borders. A land filled with stories, old roads, ruined abbeys and centuries of history. If you love Scottish history, this place is absolutely worth visiting. #andythehighlander #greattapestryofscotland #scottishborders #galashiels #scottishhistory

Step inside the world of Sir Walter Scott, the man who helped shape Scotland’s identity through storytelling. Hidden in the Scottish Borders, Abbotsford House was more than just Walter Scott’s home. It was his masterpiece. Built and expanded throughout the 1800s, every corner reflects the imagination of the poet, novelist, historian, and collector who gave the world classics like Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, and The Lady of the Lake. Scott filled Abbotsford with armour, weapons, rare books, historical relics, and treasures from across Scotland’s past, turning the house into a living celebration of Scottish history and legend. Some of the most fascinating details include: A doorway framed with weapons from historic battles, a library containing thousands of rare books and manuscripts, gothic architecture that inspired generations of Scottish baronial design, carved details, hidden symbols, and storytelling in almost every room as well as the very desk where Scott wrote many of his famous works. More than a home, Abbotsford became a cultural landmark visited by writers, royals, and admirers from around the world. Nearly 200 years later, it still feels like stepping directly into the mind of one of Scotland’s greatest storytellers. #abotsfordhouse #sirwalterscott #scotland #scottishhistory #andythehighlander

One of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. Thank you so much for having me @glencruittenhouse I can’t wait to come back. I ended up with nearly 2 hours of footage from my stay as we ended up wanting to film every single detail of this incredible place, it was difficult to choose what to include in the video. I really can’t recommend this place enough, it’s something straight from a fairytale and the staff were absolutely incredible too. #gifted #prinvite #glencruittenhouse #scotland #andythehighlander
