Last week I celebrated a milestone and two of my favorite people on earth collaborated to make me a stunning card to commemorate the occasion.
A very special shout out to the love of my life @janelee and the best artist on planet earth @petefowler for creating this masterpiece work despite the dodgy subject.

Ike White - Changin’ Times
LAX / Far Out / Rhino records, re-issue US pressing limited RSD release, LP - 2026 / originally 1976
My biggest want from Record Store Day this year was far and away this Ike White re-issue. The original “recorded in jail” record.
This record has been on my want list for over a decade and completely out of reach due to the price tag that often approaches $1000.
Back in 1976 Ike White was serving a life sentence for murder when he was discovered by producer Jerry Goldstein. The album was produced by Sly and the Family Stone drummer (who also plays on the record) Greg Errico. Recorded via a mobile studio that was brought to the prison Changin’ Times was born.
Stevie Wonder was so taken by the music that he rallied behind a movement to see Ike’s release from jail… and won!!
After his release White performed occasionally but never moved past this one recording.
Nice to have a clean pressing of this record that didn’t break the bank. Highly recommend if you see one still kicking around to pick it up. You won’t regret it!!

These compilations are both great and sad…
Great that in 1995 we were able to get a glimpse into what became Radioheads OK Computer with Lucky. With other contributions from Oasis, Blur, Massive Attack, Stone Roses to name a few.
Sad that over 30 years later there was a still a need to release a second version. To support any children affected by war. A fantastic cause to get behind.
In the latest installment of Help 2 heavyweights like Olivia Rodrigo, Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode and a return from Oasis (spoiler alert, the bonus 7”). What drew me to this comp was the collab between Beck & Arooj Aftab. And it didn’t disappoint.
I really recommend this record if you haven’t already grabbed it. A good way to support a noble cause and get some incredible music at the same time.
