telekinesis • a conceptual film

When I first came up with the premise for Telekinesis it hit me suddenly while I was driving on the stretch of freeway where the 91 meets the 5. It was my first time listening to Travis’ new album and SZA’s feature struck me as so beautiful. For some reason it reminded me of all the times my friends and I would stumble onto an amazing song together while driving.
Those small inside moments, enjoying a song in the car, loitering in parking lots talking about dumb inconsequential things, seem minor at the time but feel monumental to me now. They are the moments when I feel happiest and most connected to other people. As we get older those are exactly the moments that make me feel grateful for the people in my life and the ones who have shaped me.
TK is also about the duality of life, how things that seem negative can end up being restorative, powerful and redemptive. Addition by subtraction of sorts and how brokenness is often the prerequisite for connection and healing.
That is what TK means to me. I hope you watch and find your own meaning in it or at the very least see some cool shots you like.

As some of y’all know, I just got back from a trip from Korea and half of it was spent with my grandpa. I felt a nudge to make something in commemoration of him as well as making something for my family and future family (God willing 🤪) to remember him by. There’s quite a lot that I got out of making this, it’s honestly been therapy for me in that it’s reinterpreted what it means to be born as a Korean-American and also how I view my childhood and even family history.
But honestly…the biggest gift was simply spending precious time with the OG.
Finally, hold your fam close and spend some time with them, you never know what stories they got in the vault that’ll surprise you 🤍
Moments I would love to look back on that does not fit on this platform because it includes an absolutely frankensteined edit of gratuitous bball clips (I’m absolutely dialed tho), food, friends, family, fun and other f words, it’s my social media tho
