NEW BONUS EPISODE! Author of Bound Together: Leather, Sex, Archives, and Contemporary Art @andycampy joins me for a review of the dom-com, Pillion! We loved it and you’re gonna find out why. Andy and I get deep in those ear holes and discuss the novella the film is based on by comparing and contrasting narrative and thematic elements. How does the story change when we transport it from 1975 to the current day? Are there BDSM romance film tropes and how do we feel about them? What are old guard Motorcycle Clubs? What role does non-verbal consent and cruising play historically in leathermen’s community? All these questions and more dissected in this big, juicy bonus episode! Listen on Patreon.com/girlsgutsgiallo at the $8 cruel mistress or higher tiers! What did you think of the movie? Dish in the comments!

Birthday trip to Japan, focused on craft, fiber, textile, and fabric shopping. Kintsugi and coffee; mingei and contemporary design; tempura and temple snacks. Seeing dear friends while over there (@marisamandler and @designmind72 for a truly full circle moment), while being guided by the best for tours and workshops - AnDesign for an unforgettable Zen Garden tour at Nanzenji and related sub-temples, @midoriskyotokitchen for a coffee tour (and a melon soda! 🍒) @sashiko.lab for fabric/craft shopping (including a 400+ yr old needle shop 🪡), @mioheki for a kintsugi workshop filled with joy and patience, and @kyotoshiborimuseum for a silk fukusa course - thank you all for making this a sweet trip to remember! 🙌🏻 And @cbcampbell19 was the reason for the celebration 🎊 proud to be your son, glad to get to do this with you, miss that exhausted feeling at the end of each day already. We did it. You did it. I love you.

World moving too fast. Fortunata Obrąpalska, Object and Image [detail], 1955. From the Surrealism, Other Myths exh. at the National Museum in Warsaw. Jeopardy on, looking through photos, laundry going. First exhale (maybe).
