We invite you on a journey to Vietnam. Through film. . In our upcoming special issue, we’re will feature the work of photographer @andybraeuer , a valued member of our community. His images are raw, emotional and timeless, all captured on Ilford HP5 Plus with a Nikon FE2 during his first trip to Southeast Asia. . Andris shares: . “There’s a charm to Vietnam that few places in this world have. It’s a sensory journey, from the smells of fried meats and fish sauce to the scent of burning diesel fuel and soft incense. The sounds of buzzing mopeds, blaring horns and karaoke around every corner. It’s overwhelming at first, but that chaos transforms into excitement and curiosity. Yet, out of everything this amazing country has to offer, it’s the people who truly capture your heart. People who are generous, welcoming and endlessly kind. People who go out of their way to make sure you’re happy. Whether they’re children playing in the street or squatting farmers working in the fields, everyone greets you with genuine openness and an eagerness to share their culture. This was my first trip to Southeast Asia and although I had no expectations, I was consistently surprised and moved by the warmth and kindness of the people. I know this visit to Vietnam is only the first of many. I’m already looking forward to returning, hopefully very soon.” . Text and images: @andybraeuer . ‘In Transit’, a photo series inspired by John Schabel. An exploration of peoples comings and goings throughout Berlin on a rainy day. Sitting on my balcony and watching the tram stop in the front of my building had me curious as to where these people had been, who they are going to see, what happened in their day? We are so often in a rush, slowing down had me think of the complexity of everyone’s lives and how we should be kind to one another, as compassion goes a long way. A lot has changed in these last months as I’ve taken a step away from sharing my work. If this change is for better or for worse, I’m still not entirely sure, but it’s looking for the better. Lately, I’ve been taking more time for the things that are dear to me, practicing patience and offering myself and those close to me a little more understanding. It’s a gentle reminder that while many things are fleeting and pass quickly, the good ones take time. Here are just a few of those things. Thanks for looking.

Boats in the Cao Hai Lagoon near the Hai Van pass, a small village in Lang Co, and food vendors in Da Nang and Hue. More from ‘In Transit’. Some outtakes and extras. This time felt more of an observation of characters and motion. Catching emotion in the brief moments stopped at the station, however, it felt a little less interpersonal overall. I tried out a different roll this time, using ilford delta 3200. I liked the depth and grain but it lacked the drama of pushed hp5, that and the rain definitely adds to the scene. Here is a mix of both film stocks. Anyway, thank you for looking.
