Well that’s it. 👍🏼 40 years young. Who’d have thought it. 🧐 Got to spend my 40th with some great friends & had an absolute blast at @ushuaiaibiza seeing @calvinharris 🎶 An amazing week with amazing people! A massive thank you to my beautiful wife for putting up with me, I never thought I’d meet anyone who makes me smile with the daftest things, is so caring but also a pocket dynamo. You really are my soul mate. @laurajaynehamilton ❤️ I’ll be doing a 40 things I’ve learnt at 40 as tomorrows post! ✌🏼

STOP OVERCOMPLICATING IT. 🛑 As a Personal Trainer, it’s easy to get caught up in the fancy stuff. The latest exercise trends. Complex programming methods. Perfect biomechanics. All the theory in the world. Business Coaches promising the world. But let me tell you the truth… 90% of your results come down to mastering the basics. ✅ Getting them moving consistently. ✅ Building trust and a solid relationship. ✅ Teaching them how to eat simply and well. ✅ Showing up on time, every time. ✅ Motivating them when they don’t feel like it. ✅ Teaching them exercise technique PROPERLY. ✅ Helping them build habits that stick. You don’t need to know everything. You just need to know enough to get them results, and the ability to keep them consistent. Master the basics first. The rest comes with time. 🐺 👇 What’s the most important “basic” for you as a trainer or as a client? Let me know below!

A trip to Troon so popped into @performancegymirvine - what a gym. Been saying for way too long that Edinburgh needs something like this. 👍🏼 Top class kit, top class training atmosphere even at 7:15am Saturday morning! Currently everyday is leg day! 5 ⭐ review! 🔥

“Influencers” are a plague. Or as they are really known: CWC’s. Cunts with Cameras. 👍🏼 Gym etiquette is simple. Just be a gid cunt. Translation: Just be a good person. 👌🏼

Progress regardless of how small is still progress. 👍🏼 Under the expert eye of @megahyphysio I’m now 6 weeks post supraspinatus tear. Physio from week 2 until now & this is the first pair of dumbbells I’ve used in 6 weeks. 👌🏼 Some new rehab exercises from Sean & also continuing to use some of the previous weeks exercises as warmup/starter exercises & back up to barbell rowing 100kg for reps. 💪🏻 Adding in some upright rear delt raises focusing on engaging the rhomboids & lower traps to take out the shoulder issue. Finding it easier to sleep as the shoulder gets better too which is massive. 👊🏼 2.5kg dumbbells today but this is just the start & we’ll progress more as the shoulder gets stronger & stronger. 🔥 Celebrate the small wins, those little battles win the war. 👍🏼

This isn’t just for general Joe’s. This is also for new & current coaches. 👌🏼 None of us know it all. It’s about sharing information & helping educate/correct each other. 👍🏼
