I put together a film on John Gibbons from on a studio visit in Basildon last month and an audio recording we did just before the show opened. On visiting John’s studio I was impressed by the scale and physicality of the works as well as the space itself. It feels rare to meet artists who are able to make in this way these days and I hope the film shows part of the labour involved in such a practice

Images of Jane Hayes Greenwood’s sublime solo exhibition Weird Weather, currently on @ioneandmann co-presented with @castor_gallery until 7 March
“Grief bends the world. It turns the ordinary into a psychedelic experience by intensifying its strangeness. And it’s like this too, sometimes: the end of something, the beginning of something else. In the end, it’s painting in particular, with its amalgam of the tactile present and the cloudily distant, that brings the ambivalence of loss, and the persistence of love, into view. In Hayes Greenwood’s paintings, these become both impossibly far and close enough to touch and feel”

Tomorrow we open Jane Hayes Greenwood: Weird Weather. The first @castor_gallery exhibition in over a year, presented in collaboration with @ioneandmann at their Conduit Street space, W1.
Join us to celebrate the opening 6 - 8pm 🍻
1st floor, 6 Conduit Street, London, W1S 2XE
Weird Weather is our 3rd solo exhibition with @janehayesgr which sees an evolution in subject and application. These deeply personal works are rich and engaging reflections on home, landscape, memory and loss, they draw you in and demand your attention.
Having spent a year living island life it feels fitting to close that chapter with a return to exhibition making. If you can’t make it tomorrow, the exhibition runs until 7 March.
Huge thanks to Jane and Alkistis for all the hard work in realising this exhibition
