now that iâm back to ~660 ft of elevation â a comprehensive and thorough review of the five, beautiful, 14er peaks we hiked this summer.
#1 Bierstadt- 14,064 ft elevation & 8.64 mile hike. Bierstadt will always have my heart, mostly because of the scrambling up to the summit, which to use Ericâs words âAndy took off like a mountain goat bounding up the final 1/4 mile of rocks.â very thankful that he and jack didnât leave me behind and instead pushed me to keep up. I canât wait to get back and do this one again, such a blast!
#2 Torreys- 14,275 ft elevation & 8.24 miles when combined with Grays, was one of the most beautiful summits. so beautiful you could see it from Bierstadt. when we hiked up Grays and looked across the saddle between them, the hike up Torreys looked incredibly more challenging than it turned out. also really loved eating my chicken salad sandwich at the top.
#3 Elbert- 14,439 ft & 15.02 miles roundtrip, the highest peak in the rockies, 2nd highest (after Whitney) in the continental U.S. the longest of our hikes by far but an achievement that Iâll never forget.
#4 Grays- 14,278 ft & 8.24 mile hike combined with Torreys. shout out to that family of five that we met, two kids under the age of 8 and the dad carrying the youngest on his back was a flex.
#5 Quandry- 14,271 ft & 6.96 mile hike. under better circumstances this could have ranked higher, however after a late night at Red Rocks the night before and only sleeping for 2.5ish hours⌠it was a challenge, to the point where talor and i barely yapped on the hike down, still worth it!
the other hikes from the summer:
- McCullough Gulch
- Mount Baldy
- Mayflower Gulch

summer of âthatâs crazy!â
how lucky are we to be able to do this everyday with the most amazing people. for every person you meet and every place you visit, a sliver of your souls are exchanged when you leave each other. and, luckily, it lingers forever. itâs hard to find words to describe how much these people mean to me and how incredible and beautiful this summer has been. we did a lot of music, we learned, we laughed, we listened, we cried, we triviaâd, we hiked, we fixed a flat on the production van, we saw a ufo? we ate, we drank, and we sang so much karaoke. I will miss this town, the mountains, and my new friends.
here are a handful of my favorite memories from this summer at the NRO & Breck with some of my favorite peopleâ¤ď¸
