i love this piano.
got it at a goodwill probably 8 or 9 years ago.
it's a humble piano, never really meant to be the workhorse it's become. it rocks in the studio, though. versatile and mid-range forward. bright and percussive.
so many records have this piano in the mix. it gets recorded basically every day!!!

latest studio treatment has been:
stereo km184s and a zeppelin labs contact mic on the soundboard.
duplicate the contact mic + send to an echofix spring.
also... been liking this heavy felt on it.

1st: you hear my little stereo setup that i use all the time on my upright--two km184s in a rough ORTF/spaced pair type situation. they're hitting daking pres and a stereo daking compressor. a super solid and dependable setup!! great sounding mics! this tends to be my default for this piano.
2nd: you hear a C-38 that's a close room/shoulder mic. it's going through an akai/roberts tube preamp.
3rd: you hear them all together.
i like the c-38 by itself for this little ditty tbh. it just has a lot of vibe.
the km184s have nice depth, but i might've hit the compressor a lil hard on them. idk...
it's all subjective and context-dependent!!!
