Had the pleasure of working on a wonderful play by Michael Kaplan, with wonderful people last week at the Group Repertory Theatre! (I didn’t know which camera to look at 🤷🏻♂️)
The man pictured front and center is my Grandpa, Captain Milton Howell.
In this photo he Is only 24 years old.
He was responsible for the lives of 300+ men in his company. He fought through the Battle of the Bulge, through France, Germany and Austria.
He and his men were among the first troops to enter and liberate the Dachau concentration camp.
His experience at Dachau, his
feeling of helplessness towards the survivors, drove him into the medical field after the war.
He was awarded the Bronze Star for Gallantry in Battle. The story reads like a scene from a movie, but to hear it from him was incredibly sobering.
Thank you to our veterans. To those who fight for right, "Lest we forget--lest we forget!"
