dot. this record is my first, and it’s out now. a melancholic look at the last twenty years of mourning, in all the textures i’ve found to explore many feelings with. it is a compositional debut, with plenty of improvisation to tie it together. i owe many thanks to the folks no longer in my life but they’re not here to hear it. i owe even more thanks to my friends and my community here, I can’t believe how this app has awarded my life.

part of the full expression that dot is, is physical media. I was able to connect posthumously with my dad through his things he left behind and enjoyed while he was here. I found his music tucked away, his voice perfectly preserved on an unopened cassette. Part of this for me, is making something for people to enjoy while they’re here and leave for someone else to find in the future. every detail I strive to make personal, and doing a small batch of cassettes was the best way I could do that. Modifying the album cover’s square symmetrical design to fit a tape brought me back to digging through my dad‘s box of music in his work truck (an old pipe fittings box) upcycled into music storage. I think of 70s Sabbath Warner pressings that put the square album cover up top with a black information box under. Me and my art engineer @micahjmathewson were able to take that idea and freak it a little. I can’t be more happy with how it turned out. Pressed on a hifi bi-color cassette and as with the vinyl, we have some nice personal easter eggs and bonus material compared to the digital experience. Get one if you want one, limited to 100 and they’re about half gone.
31 🐒 officially ‘in my thirties’ which is a feat my anxieties never thought possible. it’s also a year and two days of ⚪️ dot ⚫️ which has made 30 an unbelievable experience. thank you to all imaginary friends in my phone who give me the space to be myself and celebrate what’s worth celebrating. thank you for ordering physical copies to enjoy and leave in the world for future people to find. thank you for your ears and the articles and the shows and the word of mouth and for finding kinship in my really lonely practice. infinite love to you all. @stephen_beyer_music released an extensive interview with performance about dot on the anniversary that is a great look under the hood for those curious. dm me or find in on our yt pages <3
removed. playing dot in full at @woodwirevolts in anaheim friday, come by after the NAMM show for an amazing cross section of boutique builders and pedal freaks alike. i’ll have vinyl with me too. i wrote this record as solo guitar pieces and grew what needed to grow into tunes, so it will be interesting to share some stripped down versions, and some remixes too. it’s going to be a blast. this unbelievable @manzerguitars is in a metheny-nashville tuning which mixes up my melody in a cool way, thanks much to @theblueguitars for loaning me this masterpiece. #manzer #dot #rawk

It's been a couple weeks now since Guitar Summit and I've had a chance to edit some of the footage. We met some awesome people there, too many to mention honestly. ken parker was a magnet. he brought people/things together. he worked tirelessly to close the gap between musician and inspiration with his machines and innovations. woodstock luthier showcase, archtopology, endlessly inspiration instruments - let alone the meals he could make. ‘andy’s mushroom soup’ is a highlight of my turn on earth. i am so fortunate i got to know him in this life, as he was a hero to a young freak guitarist like me. he was certainly complex, evangelized his methodologies with less and less patience as time went and he’d let you know why his way was the only way - but it was hard to argue with the results. as is the way, at times. i’m very proud of the work/shop episode i conducted and scored with @daddarioandco about him - it’s a great introduction for the unfamiliar. His work wasn’t just done with his hands, he had many wonderful minds doppler in and out of his field and that work isn’t done now - i am so excited to see how his impact continues to reverberate. a dear friend. #kenparker
