WEâRE TAKING A BREAK.
And working on a few things.
Life is getting tough out there. Shortages, rising costs, pressure from all sides. Now more than ever, we need to unpack the notion of what âvalueâ means, and choose how we spend our precious (and limited) time. We have decided that the world needs action. Not sitting on our butts, endlessly scrolling as we watch those around us live. We are pulling back from the social streams, endless images, campaigns and well-crafted sales pitches, and spending our time where we can make a difference - getting better, more cost effective products into the hands of those that support us - great, well-made beer at a better price!
Time and money spent wisely. Making a difference. Weâre taking a break from this all⊠And we want to encourage you to do the same.
Do a simple exercise - quickly check your 'screen time'. We reckon those 2 hours a day youâre flipping the gram and watching the world through the lens of others, could be spent more wisely. And you know it too.
Get out there!
Engage!
Be present.
See the world.
Be more active.
Connect.
Introduce yourself to that neighbour.
Climb a mountain.
Go for a surf. If you donât know how - learn.
Look your kids in the eyes, and listen attentively.
Call you mom or dad, or that old buddy that has always been there for you.
Go have a beer with that person you keep meaning to call.
Have a beer and give âem a hug.
Live a life worthy of the opportunity you have been given!
Donât worry. We'll still be here. You can reach us at all the usual spots - and our newsletter and websites (see link in bio) will keep you updated on our new and exciting (and affordable) products, offers and plans. Sign up via the link in the bio and weâll make sure you're the first to know about our new range of premium and well-priced beers.
A little while back we approached the truly talented team at @spin_studio to craft the new identity and packaging for our British Brewed range of beers.
The packaging produced simply blew us away with eye-catching neon colours and a bespoke typography inspired by the bubbles you would see rising in the beer itself!
AND UNION had the honour of presenting HEYDAY as the beer of choice at @spin_studio latest exhibition ETCETERA and we couldnât be happier to see the team with our brews again.
Working with the team was an absolute treat and we are forever thankful for their support.
WEâRE BACK! AND UNION will be the beer of choice once again at the @jasonbakerycpt guest pizza takeover!
Our friends at @jasonbakerycpt have crafted a unique pizza menu designed to complement our beers perfectly.
Tomorrow night, 25 August from 17:00-21:30. No reservations so donât be late!

The Beastie Boys..
Album cover homage this month comeâs via inspiration from Sonic Youthâs 1992 experimental grunge-rock album Dirty, created by the American artist Mike Kelley. This disarmingly âcute and craftyâ knitted plush doll cover stands in stark contrast to the grizzly mesh of guitars and drums that would become the signature sound for the orchestra of Moore, Gordon and Ranaldo et al.
Dirty was produced by Butch Vig (of Garbage fame) and Andy Wallace - the guys that had done the same on Nirvanaâs Nevermind - now assisting Sonic to record in New York Cityâs Magic Shop. This album came out in 1992 at the height of grungeâs push to capture the hearts and minds of alternative rock fans.
Entertainment Weekly described the album as âpossibly the finest hour from this New York noise & roll band. It is also much-needed proof that the old-fangled concept of a rock guitar band can still result in vital, undeniably moving music", and "At this point, every other rock & roll album that visits our planet this year will have a hard time topping [Dirty]".
Dirty's album cover features a portrait of a plush toy taken by Kim Gordonâs good friend Mike Kelley, also is considered to be one of the most influential American artists in the last half century. The doll is framed by clean type characteristic of Kelleyâs collages and layered assemblage artworks. Super active on the counter-culture music scenes of LA and Detroit, Kelleyâs fingerprint is carried through the CD sleeve with a series of portraits of the band as well as more plush dolls such as a bear, rabbit and a bee.
Kelley was not just an artist but a musician in his own right, as founding member of protocol-punk performance art band Destroy All Monsters (which at various times included members of The Stooges and MC5). He was found dead in his apartment in Los Angeles on 01 February 2012 of an apparent suicide.
Raise beer in tribute to the artist whilst cranking up 100%, Sugar Kane and Youth Against Fascism.
R.I.P. Mike Kelley
âLight and day is more than you'll say
Because all
My feelings are more
Than i can let by
Or not
More than you've got
Just follow the day
Follow the day and reach for the sun!â
