Reworked an old art test piece from a year ago. It’s crazy to think about how much has happened since then and how much I’ve progressed personally and artistically. I remember feeling really stuck and stagnant at the time and looking at the original painting I can see how my work reflected my state of mind. I wanted so desperately to progress that I forgot how to enjoy the act of just making art. I hated everything I made and just didn’t feel like I was growing. Eventually, through various struggles and journeys of self discovery, I can happily say I rekindled my passion for art and my eagerness for life in general. Honestly, I’ve never been happier, but it took A LOT of time and self reflection, and I know I still have so much more I can improve on as a human being. But for anyone out there who feels down in the dumps about their work, or anything for that matter, don’t worry. Things get better and growth happens over time. Trust the process, keep at it, and no matter what, love what you do.
