This week, I had to say goodbye to my best friend in the world. It was something we knew was coming but that of course didn’t make it any easier. In typical Fauna fashion, she outlived the cancer prognosis by a huge stretch and faced her decline with the tenacity, elegance and adaptability that defined her life.
She was 15 years old when she passed. I was with her from a tiny newborn nugget all the way to the last day. Her presence and companionship helped define my adult life. We got through so many highs and lows together. And In the process, she taught me so much about commitment and responsibility. Without her quiet comfort, without her persistent love- I’m not sure I would have made it to where I am today.
For the longest time, it was just me and Fauna and that was enough for her. She was the queen of boundaries. So I was so happy to see in the last several years, her open up to more people. So many friends and family got to see what a special little soul she was and, in turn, she got to see everything she helped build.
I want to thank everyone who has already sent messages and condolences, or just shared how special it was to feel her affection. I’m eternally grateful for what I have- the friends I’ve made, the home we’ve built and the family we are forging together.
I couldn’t have done it without you, little Lady. I’ll forever have a hole in my heart and an empty spot between my legs at night. I hope someday we can meet again, but for now you’ve got a lot of rest to catch up on. And wherever you are, I hope they have tons of corn chips, butters, sour cream and egg yolks. Thank you so much for sharing your life with me.

A HUGE thanks to the absolutely stacked squad of @cadencecomicart creators in attendance. There weren't enough hours in the day to catch up with everyone but it was a pleasure squeezing in the moments that we could.
