Here is my super off model fan/tribute animation of the animated movie #Klaus !
Entirely done in toonboom Harmony Premium except for the BG (done in blender)
The lighting is done with the animated matte generator node which is similar to the rotoscope mask tool found mainly in video editing softwares. The tool basically generates a shape with edge feathering/gradients to create the sharp and soft edge lighting.
This lighting is then tracked on to the animation by using cutout rigs. That rig is used as a clean-up tool for the rough animation.
Done in about 2-3 months worth of work in total.
Although, the application of lighting only took me around 5 hours for the Boy character and around 2-3 weeks for Alva because of complexity of the overlapping limbs, the transition from shadow to light, figuring out various masking techniques, and numerous amounts of redos.
Audio from Black Mirror S7E1
Another #animated light test of a slugcat from the game DLC of #rainworld
All project files and my process are all publicly available on my patreon if you're curious.

A little rough and simple but it should do.
Done entirely with rigs in tb harmony in which the pegs/rig acts as the "tracking" for the lighting.
Had very little idea with how rigging works so the node view turned into spaghetti at the end...
@thepiano_shortfilm has a great year ahead of it. So excited to share more with you all soon! Here's a Before/After comparison of my comp work.
