SACRA // Stage Trailer
“The harness experiments worked on both metaphorical and literal levels: the imagery alluded instantly to physical labour, while you watched humans negotiate weight and connection in real time...For fans, ‘SACRA’ felt bracingly fresh” - Stir

INTERVIEW.

Thank you @nuvomag for this nuanced article highlighting the layers of conceptual and philosophical backbones of my work. “For Peña, it’s a chance to push further into an aesthetic where “mythologies, aesthetics of excess and fragility, relationship to spirituality, hybridity, and collective memory are not peripheral gestures but are central to the future of contemporary culture.”
To more work and voices from the global south finding home in contemporary culture xx

Known for her “visceral and collaborative” approach, Andrea will lead the cohort in creating a new original piece at the Mobius Atelier in Novi Velia, Italy 🇮🇹
A bi-cultural artist (Bogotá/Montréal) and director of @apartists , Peña’s practice moves across choreography, design, and performative systems. Her work has shown at La Biennale di Venezia (2023), and she is a 2026 CHANEL Next Prize recipient.
At the Mobius Atelier, participants engage in a rigorous process where process is held with equal importance to outcome—a space where structure, care, and collective intelligence shape the work from within.
Mobius Infinity is a high-level contemporary dance intensive for the next generation of professional movers.
If this resonates with your practice, we invite you to apply.

“Community is not an audience—it’s where the work begins.” — Andrea Peña
The Latinx community is present in Andrea Peña’s work not as background, but as an active force shaping how, for whom, and from where creation happens.
LATINNESS.COM
Recognized with the Chanel Next Prize 2026, LATINNESS sits down with Colombian choreographer and designer Andrea Peña to reflect on the growing presence of Latin creatives on the global stage.
“I’m moved to see more Latin creatives claiming space in the global arts world. We carry richness that makes us unique, values, traditions, philosophies, ways of being that aren’t found everywhere. Those voices are needed now more than ever, no matter what medium you work in.”
