My personal quick analysis of this Milan Design Week 2026. This posts does not consider all the amazing people I’ve met, reconnected with and enjoyed amazing time together. This one is more “work oriented” with subtle critics and analysis on how our city is evolving this week. What could be done better? Who is helping shaping this in a positive and contemporary way to live design? I’m curious to hear from you. Please, consider that types of posts are done to increase interaction and discussions, not to go against a vision or to deny an incredible work done by designers or companies (which I truly respect and admire). Use this space properly, with maturity and respect, even with a different opinion. Thanks #mdw26

Dealing with design in my hometown. A wonderful opportunity to have a lesson with my dear friend and colleague @francesca_appiani about Alessi. A mix of emotions that connected my daily job with my roots. Thank you very much @labarimini for having us, and @fiordimelacristina for organizing the beautiful experience. See you soon 🙂✨

ARCHIVE 02 - RICHARD SAPPER / UNIFOR - MOLTENI GROUP The beginning of this project took place in 1985. In that period Richard Sapper was already an established designer, able to convey very technical solutions, to poetic recalls and imagery, as for the stainless steel kettle for Alessi, 9091, whose whistle reminds the sound of an old steamboat on the Rhine River. In 1989, after 4 years of development, the project “Secrétaire” was published, produced by @unifor_official , part of the @molteniandc group. A piece of furniture that can adapt to both domestic and office spaces, combining public and private dimensions. A desk, somewhat like a vault, suitable for storing, organizing, and consulting written or electronic documents. Things that are precious, delicate, personal, private, and intimate. Part desk, part vault, it anticipates the continuity between home and office, between the public and private spheres. It is a clean, rigorous volume that changes its function, working mode, and technological equipment. This cabinet allows for the height of the work surface to be adjusted electronically, permitting the user to work from either a seated or standing position.  Secrétaire sets up a typology for new furniture through many possibilities.  How beautiful it is to understand that some very contemporary values (a combination with a flexible job/lifestyle - smart working...) were already explored more than 30 years ago? So cool. Project Collaborators: Mathias Sapper, Prizes: 1989 Office Design, EIMU Milano /  1990 IF Industrie Forum Design Hannover The first images have been manually scanned by the Domus volume 7 49 -  M ay 199 3 and digitally refined by me. The scanned material is the property of @domusweb . All the other material is property of @unifor_official @molteniandc @richard_sapper #design #archive #i̇ndustrialdesign

With Pleats, @jinkuramoto creates a playful yet rigorous aesthetic, characterized by expressive simplicity. It was the first time we worked with Jin, and it has been an incredible experience. A beautiful person, respectful, humble, always able to smile and bring joy to the meetings. I will always remember the first time we met in Alessi’s headquarters and our lunch during MDW. His approach to design left me amazed, with a deep understanding of materials and their behaviors and reactions under stress: what happens to stainless steel when pressed, deformed, bent, or cut? How many shapes can you obtain just by playing with it? You can reach unpredictable and yet beautiful results, such as Pleats, a project that I am very proud of had the chance to follow since the beginning of its development, now available in our stores. 3 dimensions (230 mm O / 310 mm O / 460x310 mm), 3 finishes available (steel, black or gold. This last one available only with the small circular) with an elegant yet contemporary detail. A big up to all Jin Kuramoto team involved in the development, such as Miyu Ikeda, Sakiko Funakoshi, our Design Team, Carlo Gasparini, Gloria Barcellini, and Alessio Di Lorenzo, responsible of our internal technical Department, which did an amazing job to fully produce this collection in our factory in Crusinallo, Omegna, Italy. What a journey! Pleats trays, designed by Jin Kuramoto for @alessi_official in 2025. Let’s go, Pleats! ✨
