Walking outside to a life meant to carry on as usual while the air is thick with grief. Families crumbling in the crossfire while we continue to pretend our jobs are our priority. Even while we watch our country burn, we’re tied to the cogs needing our money to turn. The future always uncertain, though now completely shrouded in fog. Blacked out, the country that’s always been home. A sense of mourning lingers under every word spoken between friends. The streets are quieter save for an uptick in sirens and rotating blades overhead. Said goodbye to my home over a year and a half ago after a disaster, though I still have a key. There is still recourse for me to occupy those four walls again while fellow human beings are snatched up and torn away for good without a way home to the lives they’ve built. A system that has always been deeply problematic now showing its face shamelessly in the light of day. Half of America revels with enthusiasm for people being kidnapped, tortured, imprisoned, lost in the system while the other half cries out, pleading for them to see through their humanity instead of misguided greed and thoughtless following. Occupying the same contrived borders while seeing completely different realities. More hate than I knew half of us to be capable of, even after being jaded for so long. There is no law. There is no justice. And there is no going back. #thisisamerica

Drowning in a veil of greed. You fail to see without us there is nothing. With the human experience of the masses deemed null and void, our expiration is yours too. No longer will there be fruit to hoard from the trees of civilization as they grow barren. No Water left to draw from a well drained dry. Humans. Children of nature. The earth herself. Regarded as faceless digits, bastardizing the wonder of consciousness into something so small as hoarded wealth. As if life itself belongs to some more than to others, a failure to grasp that we are woven into one by the same. To see through the eyes of the universe only to view all that is so connected - threads all stitched together into a fabric of existence we cannot fully see - with entitled possessiveness. A would be vibrant creature of the earth whose spirit has been sucked out by the smallness of greed while others clutch onto their own, trudging through the world of the vacuous created by those who mean to feed on us. They say don’t bite the hand that feeds. So we say - may their greed keep them cold and alone when death comes for each of them to collect their husks. She will have the last laugh as your soulless skins return to her as ash. A brief moment of power, a face, a name, buried for eternity. We will laugh and continue on when your flesh soon expires. We will knock down your name from buildings and take control over your visage in history, though those books will one day too expire. We will walk over the grounds of your ashes as you’re enmeshed back into the earth under our feet, until those pages too burn and you’re truly nothing more than the rest of us. #natureknowsnokings
