The official music video for “The Corner” is out now!
THANK YOU ENDLESSLY to @strwbrryhip for helping me to bring this music video to life exactly how I pictured it! I really wanted to shoot this video with stop motion photography to sort of lean into the stalkerish vibe of the song. She shot hundreds of pictures on my 2010 Kodak digicam and edited them all together patiently. There was a lot of unplanned, magic moments that fell together while editing, in the way the song would line up with what’s happening in the video and even the final time of the video matching the release date (kinda insaneee). Thank you so much to Daniel and Bella for being a part of telling such a vulnerable story with me, so beyond grateful to yall & thank you to Theo the Doberman for being the goodest and chillest boy for the video and the cover art! Dream teaaaaaaam☆☆☆
The initial idea came to me from the lyric “now I’m crying for ya like a dog in a parked car.” I felt like this visual of me sobbing in a car beside a large dog perfectly encapsulated everything I was feeling at this point in my break up. Knowing someone you once shared all these tender moments with is now sharing them with someone else, I felt like I was genuinely going crazy at times, constantly wondering all the things one wonders about when their ex moves on, and wanting nothing more than to escape the hurt that I was enduring, nearly driven to the point of acting on my intrusive thoughts but realizing there’s really nothing I can do about it... except write a song of course!
It was genuinely very hard for me to create and release this project, emotionally but also with the fear of oversharing.. but one of the most helpful things for me during my breakup was to find ways to relate to others who’ve gone through it. It’s not easy to admit the crazy things we feel post heartbreak but it was important to me that I allowed myself to feel it all and with every moment that I’ve been able to guide myself through these hard times, I feel as though I’ve gained yet another step towards understanding who I truly am outside of this experience… that alone makes it worth it.

I don’t think any explanation I could write up for this song could ever fully measure up to the vulnerability I tapped into and fear I had to overcome in order to write it, let alone release it into the world.
