One of my favorite audiobooks in a while comes out today and wanted to share that and a few titles I've loved recording recently! HOMBRECITO by Santiago José Sánchez is a beautifully written literary fiction about growing up, isolation, immigration, queerness, and family. Adored the writing in this book and was sobbing in the studio while recording 😭 THE BREAKUP ARTISTS by Adriana Mather is a YA RomCom with an amazingly fun premise where two friends are hired to break up bad relationships, until one starts falling for their mark. Also fantastically explores grief. BURY YOUR GAYS by Chuck Tingle is a fantastic horror novel about a Hollywood writer whose horror villains start coming to life just as he's been told by his studio to kill off the queer leads in his TV show. THE TRUTH ABOUT IMMIGRATION by Zeke Hernandez is a fascinating book looking at the economic and social realities of how immigrants impact the communities and countries they move to. CELESTIAL MONSTERS by Aiden Thomas is the long awaited sequel to THE SUNBEARER TRIALS. Do I need to say more? YOU ONLY CALL WHEN YOU'RE IN TROUBLE by Stephen McCauley is a humorous literary fiction about a family that's never quite known how to be functional, especially when one main character is blackmailed by their partner's mother to end the relationship, and another is pushed to open a retreat center she absolutely cannot afford. THE WORDS THAT REMAIN by Stênio Gardel, translated by Bruna Dantas Lobato is the devastating National Book Award winner originally from Portuguese about one man and how homophobia has shaped his life and all the people around him. A DAY WITH NO WORDS by Tiffany Hammond is a children's book about a nonverbal autistic child seeing the world in his day to day. EVERYONE WHO IS GONE IS HERE by Jonathan Blitzer is a chronicle of Central American immigration to the U.S. from the 1960s to now told through personal narratives and compellingly researched histories. This job is an absolute blast, and maybe you'll love one of these books as much as I did 🥰 I also have so many colleagues working on fantastic stories every day and if you're looking for recs, I'm always happy to help!
