I don't typically bring my camera along for personal trips anymore but figured I would try something refreshing and create some still video frames.
There is something elegant about using a simple camera and tripod and use the action in the frame to create visual interest.
Spending time in creation in the remote parts of New York state was refreshing and inspired me creatively. We all need to take breaks and rest from the work that we do at times and get back to nature! #cinematography #stillcinematography #campofthewoods
What if Christian films didn't have to be cheesy? What if we told a story that focuses on the very real issue of depression and suicide in today's society?
That is the goal of @missionstudiosfilms latest project, Breaking 27:00, which I had the honor of being the cinematographer and camera operator for.
Filming in Lancaster for the past two weeks has taught me so much about filmmaking, about myself, and about working with a team.
The family and friends that we had pour into this film has been incredibly inspiring for me to see.
Everyone played a role in bringing this story and these images to life.
For the first time, I had a team of people who did an amazing job helping me work and execute a lighting plan, assisting with camera, and offloading and organizing media after wrapping the shoot for the day.
I thank God for bringing me this opportunity out of seemingly nowhere! I had a small connection to the team from a previous project a few years ago, but the fact that they remembered me and wanted to get me involved for this one was a miracle.

What a year this has been.
I think I will look back on 2023 and say to myself, "that was the year where everything changed."
Taking a trip to Orlando and getting to truly experience Jesus at Jesus Image, which reignited my faith and made me realize that a lot of things in my life that I thought were important don't matter in the long run. The only thing that matters is Him.
The grass is greener where you water it. Realizing this helped me understand that I don't need to move somewhere different, meet new people, or run away from my problems to be happy and have fulfilling relationships. It's all about cultivating the relationships and experiences around you.
This year's filmmaking projects taught me that saying no is okay. In the beginning, I took everything I could. But now I realize it is important to take on the projects that align with my values and mission and that leave me with enough time for the people in my life, even if that means I earn less.
If you read this far, you've likely been an important part of my life in one way or another. So thank you for making this year what it's been.
I am excited to see how God continues to shape me in 2024 and hope you are able to reflect in your own way as well! ✌️

Smartphone cameras can do more than you think! All of these photos were taken on the @madebygoogle Pixel 7 📸
Never underestimate the camera you have in your pocket. I often found myself just reaching for my phone for some of these shots instead of my actual camera. It was just more convenient and still gave me great results!
