@edlgordon :This work really speaks to the day. There is little more peaceful than being in your mother’s arms. The piece is by the wonderful artist @andradaans and from @blackbird_gallery Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms (or might as well be moms) who take care of us all. Thanks you for the unconditional love you give to us."
I want to thank Ed from the bottom of my heart for his incredibly kind words and for sharing my artwork on his Instagram post. His support means everything to me. It's moments like these that remind me why I create art—to connect with others and evoke emotions. I'm truly grateful for his support and for helping me spread the message of love and appreciation for mothers everywhere.

Warmth rising
Movement growing
The painting breathes a little deeper today.
“Sending you warmth for the weekend - may something small and beautiful find you”

Still shaping the background
Letting each detail find its place, letting the story breathe before it steps forward.
The work is far from finished but the movement is there, and that is enough for now.
New week energy: May this week open with quiet courage and steady hands.

I keep showing up for the art. For discipline. For the stories I’m trying to paint- not for approval.

Hatwalk Chateau Belhomme— a catwalk celebrating hats as true works of art.
The event showcased the remarkable millinery mastery of @traceymogard and @donnahartley0
Tracey’s career spans theatre, film, and international couture, from creating pieces for Poirot to co‑founding Herald & Heart Hatters — the team behind the iconic hats in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Donna brings over 30 years of refined craftsmanship, her work exhibited across Europe, and she continues to pass on her expertise through immersive millinery courses.
I was honoured to wear the hat originally designed for Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Their creativity, precision, and artistry deserve every bit of admiration.

I don’t use my voice on a stage — I use it on canvas. Every portrait I create is a reminder that greatness isn’t accidental. It’s shaped in silence, in discipline, in the choices we make when no one is watching.
The children and histories I paint carry their own DNA principles — the quiet laws that shape how they survive, endure, and rise. And in many ways, those same principles guide my practice as an artist today.
The Seven DNA Principles — through my art
1. Your Source Matters - Every story I paint begins with what sustains it — memory, truth, lived experience. When the foundation is honest, the work becomes unshakeable.
2. What You Don’t Change, You Choose - The children I portray often lived inside systems they didn’t choose. My work insists on naming that — and choosing differently.
3. Strategy Is a Skill - Every composition, every layer, every decision is intentional. Art is not magic; it’s strategy made visible.
4. Peace Is a Resource - My studio is where clarity happens. When my mind is steady, the work speaks with precision.
5. Silence Is a Strength -The children in my portraits don’t shout. Their presence is quiet, but their truth is loud. I follow the same rule.
6. Greatness Is a Frequency - I don’t dim the stories I paint. I let them take up space — because visibility is a form of justice.
7. Resilience Builds Legacy - Pressure shaped the lives I depict, and it shapes me too. But pressure doesn’t break the work; it reveals its purpose.
These principles aren’t slogans. They’re the architecture behind every canvas — the way I build, the way I see, the way I honor the stories entrusted to me.
“May your week begin with clarity, and end with work you’re proud of.”

Finished ground layer on all three boys- and finally sharing this stage with you.
Their joy, their strength, their brotherhood… it’s all in there, even in this early stage.
Next phase: shaping the background, letting the atmosphere settle in.
A good way to close this week- steady progress, steady growth.

Part II
“Storms We Survived Together”
Finished the ground layer on the second boy as well.
His joy is starting to surface- soft rising joy that feels like sunlight breaking through.
Reminding me how resilience becomes visible , one layer at the time.
Wishing you a week as bright as this new smile 😄

“Storms We Survived Together”
Finished the ground layer on this first boy.
Watching his smile slowly appear out of the canvas… it genuinely lifted me.
Moments like this remind me why I paint.
Wishing you a weekend with a bit of light, a bit of rest, and something that makes you smile back.

A quick break last weekend- wandering through Carcassonne, a place whose story reaches back to 800BC.
From the first oppidum of Carcaso to Roman walls, Visigoths, Umayyads, Franks, and the legend of Dame Carcas…every stone carries a century.
Back in the studio now, re-energized and ready to dive into new layers of paint. Fresh week, clear focus.
“Here’s to a week of depth- one brushstroke, one adjustment, one quiet breakthrough at the time🫶🏽”
