SPEC07 — the Myr EP — Anders Hajem in techno mode across 4 potent cuts typified by undulating drums and swelling echoes. Despite its emphasis on percussion, atmosphere has not been sacrificed for rhythm: vivid FX and meticulous attention to detail bring these tracks to life beyond the context of the dancefloor. This is music that can be stepped into and explored, productions that reward repeat listens.

The ground hums, a new signal rippling through. Oslo-based producer @andershajem stamps his first EP on area127, offering a driving psychedelic take on body, earth, and altered state.
The EP opens with the inquisition of “Big Snake” – acid lines flirt with smoked-out synth trails in slow-burning tension. The mood turns liminal on “Membrane”, a hypnotic techno scorcher that locks onto your pulse. “Cave” invites a tripped-out excursion wired with Nordic voltage, as thumping kicks permeate a swampy atmosphere – built for peak dancefloor altitude. The closer, “Just As”, casts a progressive spell, summoning a Goa spirit through the haze of mystery.

Anders Hajem & Henrik Villard – Prærien | (BCR01)
Oslo-based label Boring Crew Records (BCR) makes its vinyl debut with the Prærien EP. The EP showcases the label’s diverse range and vision, with six tracks that span various moods and genres, setting the stage for what’s to come.
BCR01 kicks off with Oasen by Anders Hajem, a dark and chugging track. The title track, Prærien, seamlessly picks up where Oasen left off, delving deeper into the atmosphere with a hypnotic bassline and subtle tension. Perkules rounds off the A-side with his Oasen remix, stripping it down into a raw, minimal version with a heavy(!) bottom-end.
On the B-side, Henrik Villard’s Cowgirl hits hard with raw and gritty drums, with a touch of dubbed-out vocals. Woodfall Temple follows, enveloping listeners in its tribal and slight meditative energy. Canadian producer Cooper Saver then closes the EP with his mesmerizing remix of Woodfall Temple, ramping up the tempo with layered synth lines that create an irresistible, trance-like atmosphere.

Born out of a studio in Grünerløkka during the pandemic, Boring Crew Records appeared almost overnight. The studio and DJ collective — Anders Hajem, Henrik Villard and Perkules — quickly built momentum through a steady stream of
mini-albums, EPs and singles, carving out a space for deeper House music in Oslo and forming a close-knit community around the label.
Rooted in the spirit of ’90s East Coast US House, Boring Crew Recordings balance collective output with individual careers, releasing on labels such as Full Pupp and Most Likely. Today, they occupy a rare and distinctive position in Oslo’s House music landscape.
