Spring loves white, yellows and purples. Garden report from my home “Chickory” for Friday, May 15. What beautiful glorious weather we are having. Low humidity. 72°
Yard Art. These wooden insects are built to decorate your garden, pots of flowers; as entrance guardians. They can hang too! Coated in UV varnish, they can withstand all weather.
Today I painted June Bug. This is my friend @renadistasio ‘s dog- one she kindly adopted after someone tied her to a tree and left her. Not only was she abandoned, she was abandoned while suffering a raging case of mange. Lucky lucky girl became a part of loving family who has brought her into her full self. Pictured here: recovering from her spay and wondering “what the hell happened to me?”
I haven’t been doing so great with art lately, running a low grade existential dread 24/7, and struggling to focus. That means going back to basics. Usually I paint from my imagination but today I pulled up a photograph of my friend @tinavanwinkle ‘s cat, Moon. I set a timer for one hour. That’s to prevent me from being overly tight which is my fatal flaw as an artist. Completed with 8 minutes to spare and logged into the sketchbook I’ve been neglecting. Moon was an independent contractor that agreed to live with my friend. And even after he became the man of the house he disappeared- and was trapped at a park miles and miles away- and returned. Here’s to you, Moon, you got me over a hump today. 🖤🌙 Ps happy birthday Tina will put this in the mail tomorrow.
