Food Conspiracy Co-op east entrance is buzzing with activity. Events on the patio like today’s plant swap have brought people into the store. Flowers in the landscape have brought pollinators to bless the garden. Todays visit we stopped to observe the newest growth… young pomelo fruit, praying mantis egg casing on pine needle milkweed, humming bird drinking from Mexican honey suckle, bees collecting nectar from desert globe mallow, bright flower of California poppy, moths and butterflies drinking from the butterfly bush. The steel rainwater catchment, lavacrete garden beds, and rain fed landscape was expertly installed by @awareness.ranch and maintained by @cassilla927 #rainwater #pollinators #garden #landscape

Lavacrete mixing and placing into formwork. We’re building a custom masonry studio out in the desert. The mix will incorporate an adobe pigment to look like rammed earth but provide higher energy performance and weather resistance. The aggregate is locally sourced cinder sand. The binder is a type s masonry cement. Lower carbon footprint than concrete, greater structural and energy performance than rammed earth. Monolithic construction with integral fireplace. #building #mason better than #concrete #construction

Check it out! A rare experience to be in the field learning and working on a lavacrete project. Lavacrete is a fantastic building material that uses locally sourced cinder sand. Come learn something cool with Tiny Shiny Home and Awareness Ranch. Spaces are limited, sign up while you can.

My exploration of various materials has yielded exciting results, including the development of sustainable lavacrete fire pits, garden beds, and carbon-rich biochar. When used together, these elements create a regenerative cycle that promotes organic material cycling. This synergy produces impressive results, including odorless greywater, rich compost, and vibrant gardens, ultimately contributing to a thriving ecosystem. As humans, we have a critical role to play in maintaining fire ecology and soil health. By integrating a backyard fire pit and garden into our daily lives, we can reestablish our connection with nature. If you're interested in learning more about my fire pits, garden beds, or biochar, please don't hesitate to reach out.

It’s easy to be anti stuff. It doesn’t require any effort. Standing for something takes effort. Actually getting to work is what’s gonna make the change. It’s up to us to make a better future. I spent the entire day outside with my girls. After playing at the park we got down with some adobe at the ranch. Get down with something productive and make something good. #permaculture #naturalbuilding #sustainability #adobe #building

A model of the #airlift system and apparatus for air separation. This simple design calms the flow of water and allows a steady return flow to the fish tank. This special #aquaponic installation will utilize #rainwater, #solar and #naturalbuilding materials like #stone and #lavacrete for a unique design. Let us know if you need help designing or installing a rainwater aquaponic system for your #sustainable use. #awarenessranch
