Forty years since the tragedy at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Forty years ago, Chornobyl became a symbol of the global lies of a totalitarian state.
Forty years later, those lies have not disappeared; they have simply become more sophisticated.
Today, Russia continues this tradition, using nuclear blackmail and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as instruments of terror against Ukrainians. Today, drones fly over the Chornobyl sarcophagus to strike people’s homes. On this day, we remember the liquidators who became a shield for Europe and the world, dealing with the consequences under horrific conditions.
History has a tendency to repeat itself.

We had the honour of being invited to host a workshop at the Bologna Book Fair this year by @unwomeneca , which we’ll tell you more about shortly.
It was wonderful to see our Ukrainian colleagues in every section of the fair. There were Ragazzi winning books by @art_studio_agrafka and @yufrukt ,@melnykdraws , @nastia.evdokimova at The BRAW Amazing Bookshelf. There was an exhibition of Ukrainian illustration by @pictoric.ua and @book_arsenal , a personal exhibition by last year’s winner @haiduk_maria , and works by one of this year's @rizachka_art illustration exhibition winners. There were discussions and talks by Ukrainian publishers and cultural figures or the Ukrainian book industry @yu.vi.ka@verheles_
The Bologna Book Fair is inspiring in itself, but it is gratifying to see Ukrainian cultural products evolve from an "unexpected discovery" to a recognised and respected part of the international market.

The “Ilustroteka” exhibition has opened at the @mystetskyiarsenal , exploring the dialogue between Ukrainian illustration of the two different 20s century apart. I highly recommend visiting and taking it all in! There’s a wealth of archival material, the exhibition’s layout is spot-on, it explores connections across the decades, and the images are simply beautiful.
Narbut’s Alphabet, for which the artist didn’t manage to complete all the letters, has been supplemented with works by contemporary artists and it is part of the exhibition. I worked on the letter “Ж” that is pronounced almost like "J" in Jelly but without d-sound at the beginning. I've also included Jenya in the picture as her name starts with this letter as a little inside joke.

В @mystetskyiarsenal відкрилась виставка "Ілюстротека" про діалог української ілюстрації 20х з різницею в століття. Моя щира порада завітати і роздивитись все! Багато роботи в архівах, влучна архітектура виставки, пошук рим між віками і ,оф корс, красиві картинки.
Абетка Нарбута, для якої митець встиг зробити не всі літери, доповнена роботами сучасних художниць і художників, є частиною ескпозиції. Я працювала з літерою "Ж". Желе, ЖК, журавель, ЖЕК, живопліт, Женя.
