One of the things I have loved so much in this pub journey is meeting other Southeast Asian writers and connecting over how similar and how different we are at the same time. While all these books may not necessarily be set in Southeast Asia (though peep the two Penang books in this list ❤️ ) it's always nice to see fellow Southeast Asian writers carve their own paths. We truly are all in this together. Jom, jom, let's all write more books ~

Today is not just my 28th birthday, but it's also World Book Day! I always found it an amazing coincidence (or preordained serendipity?) that as a reader and an author my birthday would fall on this date, as though it was always meant to be.
More and more, especially as we reckon with a media literacy crisis plaguing this generation, I'm in awe and grateful that I get to live in a world that has so many different books. I have lived many different lives thanks to the many, many stories folded between pages. To celebrate, here are some of the books that have shaped my writing over the years!
